Holidays are just around the corner, and for The Legend of Zelda fans, that means one thing: gaming fest! If you’re lucky enough to have time off work, you can really get sucked into those games that have been crying out for your attention! Nintendo are also getting in on the act by producing this video that seeks to capture the sights and sounds of the festive session.

Imagine that you have your own log cabin in the snowy woods. A crackling fire can be heard in the background as you snuggle up on the sofa with a mug of hot chocolate. For many, the game of choice this year will be Link’s Awakening, and Nintendo shows off the game on the Nintendo Switch Lite in their own version of The Yule Log. Whether you picture the scene as cozy or corny, there are no loud voice-overs or a big push for the sale. The gameplay itself is what is being focused on here, which I do find refreshing.

This advert has also caused much excitement in the ASMR community. For those that don’t know; ASMR is known as “autonomous sensory meridian response”; if you have ever experienced a relaxing or tingling sensation in your scalp when listening to certain sounds or voices, that pretty much sums it up. The crackling of a fire is apparently a common trigger. Whether Nintendo is attempting to tap into the human psyche and implant the message, “Nintendo Lite + Link’s Awakening = perfect relaxation,” is open to debate. I simply enjoyed how they created a calm atmosphere with a Christmas tree, flickering candles, and nod to a Mario stocking.

So, did you like the style of the advert? Does it put you into the holiday spirit or leave you cold? Whether your thoughts are ‘bah humbug’ or full of festive cheer, let us know in the comments below!
