Fantasy and magic are elements that Studio Ghibli stories and Zelda games have in common. Because they share a similar sense of adventure and playful wonder, the comparison has often been made within the fandom in fan art and other celebratory creations.

Inspired by the Studio Ghibli film Princess Mononoke, animator RwanLink has created a short film crossing the story over into Breath of the Wild, entitled “The Silent Curse”. With familiar story elements like being infected by an attack and setting off on an adventure, the film brings to life the similarities and therefore celebrates both franchises. The music that accompanies the film is masterfully composed by Mosik, who has incorporated remixed Zelda themes from across the franchise over the span of the thirteen-minute film. The animation is also fully voice acted, bringing together the talents of Christina Tyler and Andrew G. Pelz.

You can support RwanLink on Patreon as well as find more of their animations on YouTube. With this fan film, RwanLink also celebrates ten years of animating on YouTube, so be sure to send love and support their way!
