As a kid, I loved watching fan-made LEGO movies, and I even made a couple of stop-motion animations with LEGO’s on my own. So, when I saw this LEGO Legend of Zelda movie, I knew I had to cover it.

A Link to the Brick, 4 up media‘s first 4K film, is a cute, creative adventure in which Link must rescue the Triforce from the evil Ganondorf. During his journey, Link encounters the famous Mario Brothers, who prove essential in his quest to save the day.

The film is clever, making imaginative use of LEGO parts and elements, and blending them with the classic Zelda mechanics fans have come to know and love. I enjoyed seeing a variety of minifigures repurposed to fit the image of Zelda characters and enemies. Voiced entirely through audio clips ripped from the games, it feels almost like the old LEGO video games that used grunts and mumbles in place of dialogue.

This Hyrulean adventure, which ends in a showdown with the the King of Evil, is a love letter to the Zelda series and is unapologetically geeky and cheeky; it’s sure to be fun for any fan of the franchise!
