The Fairy Fountain theme is one of the most common tracks found in the Zelda series, appearing in most titles’ file select screens, and of course within Fairy Fountains themselves. First appearing in A Link to the Past (well, there were technically Fairy Fountains in The Legend of Zelda, but they weren’t officially named), the sound quality has progressed considerably throughout the years, but some miss the nostalgic tone found in the SNES game.

That’s where music technician GLASYS comes in. With brand new software, he can alter his keyboard to produce SNES sounds, incredibly faithful to the original. With this newfound power, he’s produced a cover of the Great Fairy Theme from A Link to the Past. While you’re listening to it, close your eyes and see if you can tell the difference between the cover and the original!

GLASYS has covered some other Zelda tracks in the past, including his incredible Dark World cover. You can find more of his work on his Twitter and Youtube Channel.

What did you think of this cover? Do you prefer the more dated sounding Fairy Fountain theme, or the version found in more recent titles? Let us know in the comments!
