Dr.Wily does a lot of Zelda video analyses on various aspects of the series, such as an interesting video series on the evolution of different races in the Zelda franchise. In this series, Dr.Wily tries to track what changes were made to a race’s design and how certain characteristics of the race changed. His previous entries include an analysis of the Kokiri and the evolution of the Deku, for example. The particular episode above is dedicated to the Poe.
The Poe first appeared in A Link to the Past, and had a bigger role in Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask. It should also be noted that the Poe themselves were clearly inspired by the original Zelda’s Ghini. After Majora’s Mask, the Poe take an interesting turn as cartoonish imps in The Wind Waker and as collectibles in Twilight Princess. From there, the Poe sort of fade out of existence, with the only other notable Poe being a boss fight in Tri Force Heroes.
