Warning: This new trailer contains some spoilers for Skyward Sword.

Skyward Sword HD will be released on July 16th, which is less than one month away. To prepare for the game’s release, Nintendo has put out a detailed overview trailer for the game on their official YouTube channel. This four-minute trailer includes a large amount of footage from the upcoming re-release, with many of the game’s different environments and characters shown off.

The trailer opens with a short review of the story and setting, highlighting the game’s place at the start of the Zelda timeline. From there, the trailer discusses Skyward Sword HD‘s controls, which are a key part of the game’s identity. There are two ways to play the game: with motion controls with a pair of Joy-Cons or with button-only controls. The trailer makes a point to emphasize that the button-only controls allow the player to enjoy Skyward Sword HD on the handheld-only Nintendo Switch Lite. Finally, the trailer concludes with a refresher on how the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo will function in Skyward Sword HD.

Overall, this trailer is a solid advertisement for anyone who has not played the game before or is not familiar with it. The video gives a brief synopsis of the game, shows off the controls, and details the amiibo functionality. As a returning fan, I wish the trailer had provided more insight into some of the quality-of-life improvements that Nintendo has previously hinted at. I loved seeing more footage of the game, which stoked my hunger to revisit some of the incredible locations that Link visits through his adventure. Hopefully more news will continue to trickle out as the Skyward Sword HD‘s release date approaches.
