There is nothing quite like great video game music. While playing a game, there are times when I just pause and lose myself in the soundtrack. Whether I’m lost in an epic RPG or exploring the fields of Hyrule, the music is as important as the game itself. Browsing YouTube, it’s easy to find a hard rock or heavy metal cover for even the most chill game track. However, some of my favorite covers are orchestral or a cappella. The S.N.O.T. Chamber Orchestra delivers one such Zelda-inspired rendition in spades.

Formed between siblings and friends, the S.N.O.T. Chamber Orchestra (SCO) is a feature of the Ariel, Zoey, and Eli YouTube Channel. According to their official Facebook page, the SCO combines vocal arrangements and electronic composition to create unique renditions of popular anime, gaming, and pop culture music. Their Legend of Zelda medley features three Ocarina of Time tracks that work perfectly in this style: “Song of Storms,” “Temple of Time,” and “Gerudo Valley.”

Something about the sound of human voices with minimal accompaniment creates a haunting, beautiful vibe in these familiar songs. The classical feel to these tracks is captured with a haunting resonance. SCO has several other covers in similar style, including music from Halo, Animal Crossing, and Fallout.

I’m looking forward to seeing what other game covers SCO has to offer in the future. What do you think of their rendition? Do you prefer classical or heavy covers? What are some of your favorite video game covers? Let us know in the comments!
