Cadence of Hyrule has been available for a few weeks now, and if you’ve traversed a dungeon or two in the game, you have very likely run into the singing shopkeeper. This shopkeeper and his awesome voice can be heard inside some of Hyrule’s dungeons, adding an interesting layer of sound to many of the game’s theme tunes. But because his vocals are synthesized, one wouldn’t expect a real human to be able to sing like the shopkeeper.

Well, vocalist Nicolas Daoust achieved the impossible and recently recorded a cover of the Shopkeeper version of Cadence of Hyrule‘s Tutorial theme. Daoust uses nothing more than his raw talent and a microphone to capture the resemblance of the shopkeeper. And the results are simply stunning!

You can find even more from Daoust, including a vocal cover of the shopkeeper theme fromĀ Crypt of the NecroDancer, on his YouTube channel right here.

Was Daoust spot on or was the original better? Let us know in the comments what you think!
