Like many other popular films, television shows, and video games, The Legend of Zelda is known for its distinct soundtrack. As the games advanced from the Nintendo Entertainment System, the musical identity of the series started to take definitive shape. Often times, fans and critics can identity different musical components that might fit well in a Zelda soundtrack.

This OverClocked ReMix from AeroZ is intriguing because it acts as a departure from the musical conventions and sounds associated with the modern Zelda titles. This rethinking of Zelda music uses fast paced electronic sounds, which create an ambient and other worldly sound. Those who listen closely can still hear iconic Zelda songs like “The Santuary”, the Overworld Theme, “Princess Zelda’s Rescue”, and “Tal Tal Heights”.

This rendition of songs from A Link to the Past and Link’s Awakening has a blistering tempo, and the energy lasts throughout the entire song. If The Legend of Zelda ever decides to go full science fiction, this might be a good direction for the music, as the ambient sounds would fit well into a futuristic atmosphere and landscape.
