A Link Between World is an absolute gem of a game, and its soundtrack is a sparkling diamond in its own right. One of the most impressive songs from the game is the Lorule Castle theme, the musical theme for the game’s final dungeon. This song was even used as a pseudo-theme song for the game, with the theme often being featured in the game’s marketing and trailers.

The track is a wonderful example of how the music in the series has developed since the release of A Link To The Past in 1992. Much like the Hyrule Castle theme from the SNES classic, the Lorule Castle theme conjures up a feeling of adventure and foreboding, perfect for a journey through an intimidating castle. The most impressive element of Lorule Castle is the way that the song changes with each successive verse. As the song progresses, additional instruments are added in, creating a rich tapestry of sound.

I was at first curious to listen to this version of the tune by Loeder, which recreates Lorule Castle’s theme in a style reminiscent of A Link To The Past, to see if the motif was recreated in this version. Fortunately, Loeder does an excellent job of recreating the song, with attention given to the way the wall of sound builds throughout the song.
