Ladies and gentleman, my name is Kristen. Rosario. And I am your host for the CAVE OF TRIALS! Now before we begin part two of round one of the SMASH ULTIMATE FANTASMIC HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT, let’s take a look at the bracket to see who has already made it to round two!

As you can see, other than one rather surprising upset, it was a good first half of round one. With all of that out of the way, let’s get started with the second half of round one match-ups! Up first, we have Madeline from Celeste taking on Garo Master from Majora’s Mask!

Here’s what Adam Barham, Madeline’s Manager, had to say about their fighter:

“Madeline’s abilities are an interesting twist on a mix of some of the basic move options that other characters have, such as controlled dashes and healing abilities. I think she would be a strong enough character to have compete in this tournament.”

And this is what Garo Master’s Manager, Judy Calder, said about her combatant:

“I prefer my talent to be from the Zelda characters in Smash, so the Garo Master was an obvious choice in this tournament for me. I think the fact that he is THE Master of Spies is what drew me to choose him. He puts up a pretty good battle in his own game — it was quite frantic if you weren’t ready for it! — and I think he would do the same in this tournament!”

Who wins this match?!

  • Madeline (37%, 58 Votes)

In our second match-up for this week, we have a unique battle underway, as the Internet’s other favorite princess of sorts Boosette, takes on the mystery glitch that has been rumored to be attempting complete world domination, Missing No.!

This is what Andriteri, Boosette’s Manager, has to say about his fighter:

“One vixen deserves another. Although Boosette is an Echo Fighter of Bowsette, there are still enough unique qualities to justify her inclusion. Implementing ghosts instead of Bowsette’s flames, Boosette poses a spooky challenge to any fighter she comes across. And who wouldn’t want to see a deathmatch between her and a vacuum-wielding Luigi?”

As for Missing No., this glitchy being apparently does not need no manager to tell it how to rule the tournament with an iron fist.

Who can succeed in this fight?!

  • Boosette (38%, 27 Votes)

Our third fight pits The Chorus Kids of Rhythm Heaven, against the might of the Twilight Princess known as Midna.

This is what The Chorus Kids’ Manager, Euan Crombie, had to say in a quick and to the point message:

“Who doesn’t want to see these cheeky chappies causing mischief, mayhem, and complete chaos in this tournament?”

Here’s what Midna’s Manager, Brandon Schmitz, has to say about his combatant:

“Midna’s otherworldly abilities in both Twilight Princess and Hyrule Warriors would make for a unique addition to this tournament’s already varied lineup. Even setting all of that aside, though, I would love to see who is not a part of the Triforce Trio with its Zelda representation dominating this tournament. Excluding Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf themselves, Midna is definitely the series’ most popular character. When she gets into the ring, there’s no stopping her!”

Who makes it out on top?!

Smash Ultimate Fantasmic Holiday Tournament: Round One

  • Midna (74%, 68 Votes)
  • The Chorus Kids (26%, 24 Votes)

The fourth fight for this week has Ryota Hayami from Wave Race 64 going up against the mysterious enigma known as Error from The Adventure of Link!

Ryota Hayami’s Manager is none other than the former host of Cave of Trials, the recently burnt alive Gooey Fame. It seems like even complete, sniveling weasels like him always find a way to survive (damn cockroach). This what he had to say about his rather unique client:

“Wave Race 64 was a nice little gem on the Nintendo 64, and it would be cool to see this kind of goofy entry get some nice wins in the tournament.”

That’s it Gooey? Nothing inspirational to say about your client? Just what I thought. You should have stayed in that dumpster fire.

Here’s what Error’s Manager, A.N. Dorsey, had to say about his fighter:

“Error is an infamous character from Zelda II that has transcended the confines of his game and has gone on to live not only in Zelda history, but gaming history. And hey, when thinking about it, Error could have some pretty decent bouts in this tournament to boot.”

Which competitor makes it out alive?!

  • Ryota Hayami (30%, 18 Votes)

The final match of round one has arrived and it will pit Arbiter from the Halo series against Neku Sakuraba from The World Ends with You.

Arbiter’s Manager, Kat Vadam, had this to say about her client:

“Arbiter Thel ‘Vadam is a massively complex character who goes through some of the most intense development over the course of the Halo series. But, for obvious reasons, he’s not the character most people think of first. Personally, though, he is my favorite, and I think he deserves more recognition, hence why I chose him for this tournament. ‘For Sanghelios!’”

And here’s what Simon Rayner, Neku’s Manager, said about his fighter:

“Don’t let his puny frame fool you, my boy Neku’s got more going for him than you know. We all love an underdog, and this moody, city-hardened teen’s ready to kick butt, throw cars with just his frikken mind and be back home in time for ramen. He knows what you’re thinking before you do, this ESPer’s got it in the bag.”

Who’s the last competitor to make it to round two?!

Smash Ultimate Fantasmic Holiday Tournament: Round One

  • Arbiter (53%, 35 Votes)
  • Neku Sakuraba (47%, 31 Votes)

Total Voters: 66
