Zelda Dungeon Talks: Are Weather and Clothing Requirements Welcome Changes, or Unnecessary Complications?

d98a7c4ed69aec115e2db38eab4d5040There are certain game aspects that are almost expected in any and all new open-world games, and Breath of the Wild is no exception. Conventions in the series are changing, but usual open-world conventions are entering, as they are staples of sorts for the genre. These include fast travel points, non-linear exploration, cooking, customization equipment, and in line with today’s discussion, shifting weather conditions and respective clothing requirements. There are some that are worried that these closely related elements are unwelcome, leading to nothing more than extra time consumption. Others think it could lead to some amazing situations while travelling the world, and could become a Zelda staple. This week, the ZD staff have given their own thoughts on the subject.

As usual, make sure to hit up the comments with your own thoughts on the new weather and clothing system coming to Link’s newest adventures. Read more…

(UPDATED) Zelda Dungeon Talks: What Don’t You Like About Breath of the Wild So Far?

modal_ss_16__banner-auto-croppingBreath of the Wild still has everyone’s attention, with discussions continuing online, and Nintendo (FIIIIINALLY) releasing the occasional little video showing off a new mechanic or weapon that we can expect to use in the game. The open world, new combat, item customization, and other crazy leaps from the usual Zelda staples is certainly daunting, but that is not always a good thing, especially for seasoned Zelda fans. The general lack of info and swaths of changed mechanics is worrying at times, so the ZD staff has taken the time to express some of their personal concerns with what has been revealed so far.

As usual, make sure to hit up the comments and let us know your own thoughts on the matter. What rubs you the wrong way about what we’ve seen of the game so far? Read more…

Zelda Dungeon Talks: What Kind of Backstory Do You Expect/Want to See for Breath of the Wild’s Guardians?

Guardian-BotWWhile we wait for Nintendo to drop more news on us about the last great Wii U epic, Breath of the Wild will continue to spawn discussions about story and such, but what about the details of what we have already seen? Sure, the overall story is a point of great mystery, but the settings, characters, enemies and other elements we know of could sure use some explanations, including one of the most prominent parts of the game as we know it currently: the Guardians. These behemoths seem to play a major part in the game, so naturally, they will have some kind of backstory to them. What do you think the Guardians’ origins may be? What significance do they hold towards the Sheikah, the fall of Hyrule, and Breath of the Wild‘s story as a whole?

This week, the ZD staff take a look at this exact topic. As always, make sure to drop some comments with your own responses! Read more…

Zelda Dungeon Talks: Should Breath of the Wild Have a New Partner, and If So, Of What Kind?

midnaBreathe of the Wild has presented us with a massive world full of life and wonder, from giant, laser-shooting creatures to vast landscapes to evil monsters waiting to be hunted down. But something we have seen little to none of is people. Link, the Old Man, and in a way, the voice from the Resurrection Chamber are all Nintendo has shown us in terms of other signs of civilization. There will be towns and such later, but or all we know, they could be rather small. What might this mean for Link’s potential friends he meets along the way? Specifically, what about a partner? Most Zelda titles involve Link gaining a partner that follows along with him throughout the adventure, but this adventure, so far, seems to be one of the occasional outliers. Do you think Link will have a companion on this new, open journey, and if so, what do you expect from them? This week, the ZD staff take a look at this topic and give their thoughts.

Zelda Dungeon Talks: If You Could Ask The Developers One Question About Breath of The Wild, What Would It Be and Why?

neon_0001_largeIt’s that time of the week again! Today on ZD Talks, we are once again talking about the upcoming Breath of the Wild, but this time, we are asking something a little different from the usual specifics on what we expect from the game. If you had the chance to interview a member of the Zelda development team, or even Eigi Aonuma himself, one question about the game, what would you ask? Sure, there are plenty of things we still want to know about the game itself, but there are also any number of concerns regarding its development and marketing. Today, the ZD staff has a chance to discuss those very qestions.

Zelda Dungeon Talks: Knowing The Various Aspects of Breath of the Wild, What More Do You Expect From The Story?

Welcome everyone to the latest Zelda Dungeon Talks! Now this week’s question is quite interesting. We have seen quite a bit of Breath of The Wild footage so far and the game looks amazing. The vastness of the Great Plateau is incredible and apparently that is only 1% of the map. If that turns out to be true then this game is going to be huge! From such a huge game we can expect an amazing story, or can we? There has been very little story detail given out thus far and we have been told that the game can be beaten without experiencing the whole story. With a path like that we can only be left wondering how many paths we can take throughout our BoTW experience. What sort of narrative can we really expect once the game releases? While it is already confirmed that the game is not story driven, I really hope there is still a strong story line in place as I believe the story is one of the most captivating elements of a Zelda game.

Zelda Dungeon Talks: What Do You Think Breath Of The Wild’s New Amiibo Will Do?

Within all the brilliance of Breath Of The Wild’s E3 show, Nintendo managed to make it even better by giving us new amiibo. So far we have seen Link, Horseback Link and a Guardian. We also got to see the function that the Wolf Link amiibo would have in the new games and I must say it’s a pretty awesome feature to have Wolf Link alongside you to help out. We have still yet to hear about any functionality of the new amiibos so its time for our team to speculate.

In this week’s edition of Zelda Dungeon Talks, the ZD team will share with us their opinion on the topic. As always, feel free to share your own opinion in the comments section. Read more…

Zelda Dungeon Talks: What Future Zelda Merchandise Deals Should Nintendo Engage In?

Hey everyone and welcome to the latest Zelda Dungeon Talks. Not too long ago, Nintendo partnered with the company Vans in order to make retro gaming themed shoes, backpacks, t-shirts and more. The Zelda franchise is quite a popular one and there is a lot to gain in manufacturing Zelda themed merch, for both Nintendo and the company participating in the deal. So what do you guys think? Should Nintendo partner up with any more companies for merchandise deals?

Zelda Dungeon Talks: How Could Use of the 3DS Be Implemented in The New Zelda Game?

3ds-majora-frontThe idea of the 3Ds being somehow implemented into the new Zelda game isn’t something that I have heard talked about much. While it isn’t likely that the 3DS will be used in the new game, there are a few interesting ways in which it could be used.  An idea that I had while thinking about it was that a second player could be there as a mobile sheikah stone as well as add a few extra item slots the main player. There are many more possibilities so make the jump to find out what our staff members think.

In this week’s edition of Zelda Dungeon Talks various staff members will share with us there opinion on the topic. As always feel free to leave your own opinion in the comments section.  Read more…

Zelda Dungeon Talks: Should Zelda U/NX Have A New Kind Of Magical Instrument, And If So, Of What Kind?

The whole idea of instruments in the Zelda series has been around since the early games but it really became popular with Ocarina of Time. The ocarina in this game allowed players to do so many different things, such as solving puzzles, fast travelling, changing the weather and changing the time. These sorts of things were carried over into games like Majora’s Mask, The Wink Waker and Twilight Princess. Other games in the series have used musical instruments too, just not to the extent of these games. Should the upcoming game in the series include some form of magical instrument? Personally I think it’s alright if they find way to make it fresh and if they can’t do that, tone it down and don’t use it as heavily as Ocarina of Time or Majora’s Mask.

Zelda Dungeon Talks: What Kind of Things Would You Like the E3 Demos of Zelda Wii U/NX to Feature?

2557861-zelda_001With E3 being literally right around the corner, I say let the speculation begin! In all honesty I am not even sure that I would call it speculation but more like a wish list if you will from all of us faithful Zelda fans across the world. So far, we know that the next edition to the Zelda franchise will be the main attraction for Nintendo at this years E3, but what does that mean exactly? What types of goodies does Nintendo have in store for us, will we be seeing just one demo, two, will we see more of a story focused event, or will it be more action based? So many questions to answer, and don’t even get me started on the absolute need for a proper name.

For today, our team at Zelda Dungeon has focused its attention on answering this weeks Zelda Dungeon Talks question; What kind of things would you like the E3 demos of Zelda Wii U/NX to feature? Head in past the jump to see what they want and feel free to add your opinions in the comments.

Zelda Dungeon Talks: Are You More Likely To Buy The New Zelda On Wii U, Or NX?

With Nintendo recently revealing some information on the NX and what was long called Zelda U, there have been many mixed reactions from fans. Basically Zelda U won’t be Wii U exclusive, it will also be releasing on the NX. For me personally I don’t really care as I will be without a doubt purchasing both day one but for the fans out there who bought a Wii U mainly for the new Zelda game, then they may feel slightly betrayed. We don’t have any information on what the NX version of the game will be like but it will most likely just end up being a slightly enhanced port of the Wii U version. If they completely improve the textures and overall beauty of the game for NX then that would be awesome but I really don’t see that happening. So what system will you be getting the new Zelda on? Wii U or NX?

In this week’s edition of Zelda Dungeon Talks, various staff members will tell us which console they will be buying the upcoming Zelda on. Feel free to leave your own opinion in the comments.  Read more…

Zelda Dungeon Talks: Should a Zelda Title Implement an Online Time-Based Event System?

Imagen1
Though it isn’t territory that the Zelda series has deeply explored, online and time-based multiplayer events have been seen in a number of successful games of late. Some of the more popular titles that have utilized this mechanic are Bloodborne and Destiny, but could the Legend of Zelda capitalize on this new trend? It’s expected the series would likely have new dungeons, battles, or other events that would be scheduled to occur worldwide at specific times and dates. This isn’t the norm for a Zelda game so whether it would be too out of place or if implemented correclty be a success is up for interpretation.

For this reason, the Zelda Dungeon Staff this week was asked to weigh in on the subject, should a Zelda title implement an online time-based event system? Don’t forget to give us your take on the idea in the comments!
