One of my favorite kind of Zelda covers to tackle here at Zelda Dungeon are those where it’s a musician using an instrument I have never heard of at all. That’s what we have today, as musician Hyrule Whistler brings us a cover of “Lon Lon Ranch” from Ocarina of Time using a Low D MK Kelpie Irish whistle. While this musical apparatus may seem familiar, there’s actually more to it than meets the eye. The Irish whistle, AKA the…

King Gleeok is a gigantic dragon from Tears of the Kingdom that strikes three different shades of elemental fear into the hearts of those it encounters. This beast is certainly a trial to face if you come unprepared, but can still be a massive task in defeating it even if you’re ready. While this custom LEGO build of King Gleeok from Mitch of MitchBuilds may not strike that same imposing fear, it still provided this LEGO builder with an uphill…

While you can take your chances inside Ocarina of Time‘s Shadow Temple without the Lens of Truth, I think it’s fair to say the item does improve Link’s chances inside the dungeon. That’s why it’s good to see the likes of Alex from 1up-crafts help our hero out as he shows how to build your very own Lens of Truth. This isn’t a simple crafting video, as Alex puts in some key details that make this iconic Zelda item stand…

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom continues the series’ legacy of strong, stirring musical compositions. Its music complements the player experience while heightening or relieving tension during gameplay and cutscenes. Some of its pieces are also just a joy to hear outside of the confines of the game and are already beloved by Zelda fans (see the winner of Zelda Dungeon’s 2024 Musical March Madness for a prime example). Composer and musician DarkNuck is one of those fans…

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a gorgeous game that has inspired many in the fan community to create their own takes on many of its iconic characters and landscapes. Some have produced amazing pieces of fan art, while others have created remixes and covers of the game’s music. No matter the medium, the creativity within the community shows how much fans admire and want to honor the masterpiece that is Tears of the Kingdom. One group…

Video game archivist Mr. Talida of Keshi Corner has been hard at work preserving vintage video game merchandise, particularly “keshi gomu” rubber figures which were released in Japan throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Using 3D printing technology, Mr. Talida creates 3D scans of the figures, which are then uploaded free to the public so that anyone with a 3D printer and the right materials can have recreations of these retro figures for themselves. Previous scans have included Bandai’s keshi figures…

I never would have thought to pair a marimba and violin together to cover the title theme of Ocarina of Time, but I am so glad the YouTube channel Classical Covers did. The music from the opening sequence from the 1998 game is nostalgic and iconic. Adapting the theme from the flute that calls the wind in The Legend of Zelda, it invokes a sense of dreamy childhood, and perhaps waking up at sunrise to go on a new adventure….

Skyloft is one of the most calming environments in the Zelda series — save the Remlits after dark. Skyward Sword pairs the island with an equally soothing theme, and the sounds do an excellent job of translating the scenery’s pastels into a song, which is why it works so wonderfully on piano. Meet Michael Tai, a talented pianist who made a lovely piano cover of Skyloft’s theme. It delivers the buoyant joy of the original track, evoking the nostalgia we all…

The rise of online marketplaces and e-commerce companies like Etsy have given fans more options in how they showcase their love of different film, television, or video game franchises. The Zelda series is one of the most popular video game series on online marketplaces like Etsy, and I am always amazed at the creative products that fans can pick up from talent creators. For Zelda fans looking to decorate their first apartments or houses, these online market places are filled…

Ocarina of Time’s “Serenade of Water” is a reflection on time’s changing and unending flow. Before playing the serenade for Link, Sheik says as much: “Time passes, people move…like a river’s flow, it never ends…the clear water’s surface reflects growth…” The following improvisation on and expansion of the piece illustrates just that. Kara Comparetto recently shared “Improv on Serenade of Water ~ Zelda: Ocarina of Time ~ Piano” on the Kara Comparetto Klips YouTube channel. Comparetto begins the piece with…
