It’s finally here! After what seems like an excruciatingly long wait, Link, Zelda, and the rest of the gang are all set to do battle in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate! Smash has always been one of my favorite series, and ever since the days of the Nintendo 64 version, I fantasized about who I would want to fight as in the next game. With the passing years, Smash Bros. has evolved from a neat collection of Nintendo lore to an…

I’m a weird kind of guy. With more and more people moving towards the convenience and affordability of buying their video games digitally, I’ve started buying more and more physical copies of my games – and if one doesn’t exist, I go so far as to make a case for it myself. My Switch shelf is full of cases with no games inside of it – objects who’s literal job is to sit there collecting dust, giving no one but…

Zelda-like games have been something of a focus for us recently, and we’ve another to present. Hazelnut Bastille is graphically inspired by A Link to the Past and the gameplay follows suit. Its Kickstarter campaign is still going, with a little over 24 hours left to go. Those who donate $5 or more receive a second title, called Dawnthorn. Dawnthorn is being presented as the game before Hazelnut Bastille if it released on the NES. It should be noted that…

What do you get when Andy, Kat, Gooey, and Kevin walk into a bar? Nobody knows for sure, but if I had to bet, it would sound something like The Champions’ Cast Episode 35! Taylor is away this week, so Andy recruited some of Zelda Dungeon’s finest to bring you the hardest hitting Zelda and Super Smash Bros. questions! What’s the deal with how Nintendo defines echo fighters? Who’s the “best Zelda girl”? Which character has no shot of making…

Hello folks, and welcome back to Inspired By Zelda! This month was originally going to focus on a creepy 2D Link’s Awakening-esq game named Anodyne, but as time was a scarce resource this month, so unfortunately, that think-piece will have to wait until next month. To make it up to everybody, I had a chance to chat with the Lead Developer of Stranger Things: The Game Dave Pottinger about the game, and I’m here to share that with you! We…

There have been a lot of new games lately that have the Zelda ring to them. Whether it’s upcoming games like Tunic and Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realms, or already released games like Blossom Tales, it can all seem pretty overwhelming. And now there is another upcoming Zelda-esque title on Kickstarter right now: a 16-bit adventure game called Hazelnut Bastille. Developed by Aloft Studio, this game has A Link to the Past written all over it. Also worth noting, Aloft Studio are working with the…

I remember watching the trailer for Mulaka for the first time. It struck me just how reminiscent it was of Breath of the Wild’s final trailer shown by Nintendo at their 2017 Switch Presentation. The first 40 seconds or so were almost a beat-by-beat replication of that impactful Zelda trailer: sweeping landscapes, fluid combat, epic music, and a lone hero looking out at an expansive world that was waiting to be discovered. Mulaka’s trailer emulated that final look at Breath…

Update #2: Work is complete on Zelda Cinematica, and Samos Studios has begun distributing the album to Kickstarter backers. The album will release to the public on September 25th. Update #1: Due to unforeseen circumstances, Sam Dillon of Samos Studios has announced that Zelda Cinematica has been delayed. Dillon hopes to finish editing audio within the week, but no specific release date has been set. Many different musical groups and artists have covered the music of The Legend of Zelda over the years. The series has a catalog…

When we first launched our ‘Inspired By Zelda’ themed week over at Zelda Dungeon, someone commented in one of the earlier articles that he couldn’t wait to hear my thoughts about a game called Ittle Dew 2+. I responded to him that, unfortunately, not only were we not writing about it that week, but I’d never even heard of that game. The commenters was disappointed, so I promised him I’d give it a play. So I did. And wow. Not…
