We’re kicking it old school this week, as we’re dialing it back to 2006 to talk about Twilight Princess, and specifically, the bosses! We’re conducting a good ol’ fashioned boss ranking this week, and no Zelda game has a stronger selection of baddies than Link’s adventure through the Twilight Realm! From the fun-incarnate race against Stallord and the emotional confrontation with Blizzeta all the way to the epic sky battle versus Argorok to the amazing final confrontation again the Dark…

Video games are a unique entertainment medium. Whereas movies, books, and television typically use their sequels to continue a story, video game sequels are more often defined by a continuation of themes and gameplay elements. While some games certainly have a continuous story, it isn’t story alone that keeps players coming back time after time; it’s that combination of story, along with series staples like themes and gameplay, that intrigues new and returning players alike. Few better examples of this…

The Legend of Zelda is a series quite literally based around the kindness of one willing protagonist. Link tends to set his own desires aside as he ventures into battle to defend Hyrule, Termina, or whatever land he happens to be in when the call comes. Our favorite hero is such a knight in shining armor that it’s often easy to gloss over the goodness of others that appear alongside him. In fact, there are plenty of NPCs who perform…

Discovery and exploration have been critical elements of the Zelda series since its inception. Because of this, it is crucial that the various locations in the game worlds are enjoyable or exciting to explore. Many Zelda fans revisit their favorite Zelda games for the opportunity to return to different locations, and new players often become attach to key locations as they experience a game for the first time.  It is a testament to the incredible work of the developers and…

With Valentine’s Day upon us, I have been pondering the love presented in my favorite video game series. Throughout the many games in the Legend of Zelda franchise, there are quite a few love stories showcased! There’s Yeto and Yeta in Twilight Princess, suggestions of something between Ravio and Princess Hilda when you read the cowardly hero’s diary in A Link Between Worlds, and the absolute icons that are Anju and Kafei from Majora’s Mask. I am here for all the…

Beedle, Tingle, Dampe, Ganondorf, Zelda, Link… All of these names are ones that we’ve heard time and time again for years. Different characters who have solidified their legacy in the Zelda franchise for generations to come. While it is kind of odd that characters make returns in a franchise with entries that span thousands of years, it is fun to see a familiar face from the distant past make a return. I was absolutely ecstatic to find that Beedle was the…

Viz Media recently announced that the long-running manga adaptation of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess by Akira Himekawa is getting released as a box set in Fall 2024. According to a post on Viz Media’s X (formerly Twitter) account, the box set will include all 11 volumes and a collectible, double-sided poster. The Zelda series boasts a lot of cool merch, but the hottest of them all has got to be amiibo. These things fly off the shelves as soon as they hit them, making them some of the hardest to obtain collectibles for the franchise. For USA-based fans who still need to add to their collection, a select few amiibo will become available again very soon, while others are in stock today. Nintendo Wire has confirmed a reprint of Zelda amiibo…

Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild introduced a ton of food to the Zelda franchise, on top of what the prior games already brought to the table. Amateurs to professional chefs have cooked up many a Zelda recipe since, but what would realistically be featured in a Zelda Café? In addition to bites from the games, a video game cafe isn’t complete without some cute little treats depicting characters or icons from the games. Based on the…

When discussing our favorite Zelda games, it’s easy to focus on big-picture elements such as dungeon design, combat, or story. That said, having recently finished a long-overdue Twilight Princess playthrough, I was reminded of how many minor details there are to appreciate. You know what I’m talking about: the kind of minute, seemingly insignificant additions that – when taken all together – go a long way toward defining that game’s identity. For instance, I love that whenever Link opens certain…
