Hello there, Zelda universe! What say you to another exciting edition of Zelda Dungeon’s weekly Caption Contest? Now, after last week’s blockbuster news about Tears of the Kingdom, I was very, very tempted to renege on my promise to feature A Link Between Worlds‘ Ravio all month long. Wouldn’t it make more sense to caption some of the sweet, new TotK screenshots instead? It certainly would make sense, but since when does anything make sense when it comes to Ravio?…

Howdy, Zelda fans! I know we’re all stewing with anticipation for tomorrow morning’s Nintendo Direct, so why don’t we try to distract ourselves with another Zelda Dungeon Caption Contest? After hours of searching for the perfect Ice Rod screenshot for last week’s contest, my contest image folder is now full of silly photos featuring the one and only Ravio. So, to clear out the Ravio pile a little bit, the Caption Contest will be featuring nothing but A Link Between…

While Bokoblins made their Zelda debut in The Wind Waker, they’ve since become an enemy staple of any new Zelda game. Bokoblins can be found in subsequent mainline titles like Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Breath of the Wild, spin-off franchises like Hyrule Warriors, and even crossover games like Cadence of Hyrule. There have been several iterations of the Bokoblin’s design.  Bokoblins are pointy creatures with sharp angles and spiked tails in The Wind Waker, while their Twilight Princess counterparts…

Well, now that we’ve officially had two Nintendo Directs, I have given up hope that we’ll receive news on Breath of the Wild 2. While I am happy for the Xenoblade fans for having a Direct for their upcoming game, and it’s great that we have a Direct for third party games, it has led me to wonder if we will ever have a Zelda Direct. According to Nintendo’s Direct archive, the last time we had a Zelda Direct was…

3…2…1… GO! As that was being written I could not help but hear but the sounds you hear when you’re getting ready to race in Mario Kart. Racing games are quite popular among gamers and games like Mario Kart have been popular for years. So, would you play a Legend of Zelda racing game? A Zelda character has already appeared in a racing game and that’s our hero Link! Link has been a playable character in Mario Kart 8 for…

One of my favorite movies of all time is Jurassic Park and that movie inspired my huge love of dinosaurs.  Jurassic Park had a prolific impact on pop culture, much like how The Legend of Zelda has had a major impact on pop culture and the video game industry. So, do dinosaurs have a place in The Legend of Zelda? A dinosaur has already been present in at least one Zelda game. King Dodongo in Ocarina of Time is known…

While the wait for the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the longest we’ve experienced across mainline titles (as I explained in my previous post), it was very nice to receive Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity back in 2020. Unlike its predecessor, this game had a direct connection to a specific mainline title Breath of the Wild. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity provided us the story of what “actually” happened 100 years before Link’s awakening in The…

The Legend of Zelda has been one of Nintendo’s flagship franchises for a long time. In most instances, entries in this long-running series have been developed by Nintendo themselves. However, a handful of Zelda games have been helmed by external developers. Some of these are spin-off titles, like Koei Tecmo’s Hyrule Warriors games or the delightfully dreadful CD-i trio. Others, like the Oracles or The Minish Cap, are fully integrated into the main series. Despite Nintendo’s absence, most of these have been high…

Tingle, although a strange character, has had some importance in a few Zelda games. In The Wind Waker, Link frees him from jail and, in return, he assists Link with the Triforce Charts quest. And in Oracle of Ages, Tingle hands Link a chart which helps him navigate the Crescent Strait to reach Crescent Island. However, despite playing a vital role in certain quests in these titles, there are also moments in the series where Tingle’s presence acts a mere…

A passion for collectibles, keepsakes, and memorabilia certainly marks the fan base of The Legend of Zelda; the series has as many favorites as there are games. Whether it’s that Old Man key holder, A Link Between Worlds coffee mug, or Bokoblin plushy, Zelda fans love tokens that remind us of our favorite games and the memories we made while playing them. Now thanks to Etsy artist DollLumiere, fans can enjoy their favorite characters in a new way. As a new doll…
