A new decade may now be upon us, but we at Zelda Dungeon wanted to take one final look at the decade that was before we shut the door on it completely. The 2010’s can be seen as a rollercoaster ride for The Legend of Zelda, full of many euphoric highs and a few disappointing lows. But with all things said and done, it’s hard to look back at the past ten years and say that the series didn’t experience…

I’ve covered The Legend of Zelda news for almost five years now, and in that time, I’ve seen more rumors than I can possibly hope to count. Something about Nintendo’s tentpole fantasy series attracts off-the-wall predictions, unverified leaks, and outright hoaxes, as fans clamor for and cling to any new information on the next Zelda adventure. And that’s one reason why this job is so much fun! Seeing the passion of the fanbase explode with each new release cycle fuels…

Fierce Deity first appeared in Majora’s Mask on the Nintendo 64 in 2000. When Link wears the Fierce Deity mask, he transforms into an adult warrior with tremendous power and strength. The nature of the mask’s power is questionable, as it could be described as being just as dangerous as Majora’s. Once equipped, you can shoot beams from your double helix sword and generally make any boss fight in the game a lot easier! There have been many theories surrounding…

There have been a few spin-off titles for the Zelda series, with the most recent being Cadence of Hyrule.  This game has seen such success that developers from around the world are itching to get their hands on the Zelda series, and many fans have now expressed their own desires for Zelda spin-offs.  So now, I’m excited to share my spin-off wish! I would really love to see a spin-off starring the forgetful, cucco-loving, crossbow wielding Linkle!  Fans were first…

Twitter account Kazzykazycom recently uploaded pictures from retro Japanese magazine Shonen Captain that depicts our favorite hero as a female. The magazine showcases a female Link with long, red hair, sporting that iconic green tunic that we have come to know and love. This particular edition of the magazine dates back to 1986 — the same year that the original The Legend of Zelda was released for the Famicom. A section of the magazine, titled “Famicom Information Bureau”, features artwork of…

Love him or hate him, you cannot deny that Tingle has a certain mystique about him. What is it about this spandex-clad, rosy-cheeked, fairy obsessed gentleman that we just can’t get enough of? Is it the way he helps us navigate in Majora’s Mask? Those spellbinding magic words he created himself? Perhaps it’s that the long march of time makes us relate to him more and more with each passing year? Despite his numerous appearances—including the amazing Tingle-centric trio of games that…

Let’s get one thing out of the way first; ships are a tricky business. Of course, I’m not speaking about your standard river and seafaring vessels. I’m talking about the internet shorthand for a “relationship.” More specifically, the special pining fans do when they long for two characters to fall in love. Earlier this month we celebrated a Week of Love, in which we talked about relationships in The Legend of Zelda. Now, let’s think a little bit about relationship don’ts! Be…

I’m not one to bring up my personal life in my work for Zelda Dungeon, but with this week being the Week of Love, I felt compelled to lift the curtain a bit on what goes on IRL. Last year, something pretty big happened for me: I got married! And as much as I love my new wife with all my heart, I must admit that she is very much not a gamer. She had only held a controller a…

One of my favorite Zelda games of all-time has to be Hyrule Warriors. As someone who is a fan of the gameplay style of Dynasty Warriors, the Zelda variation was a very entertaining and fun experience throughout. Getting to see the heroes of multiple timelines come together and show off their abilities was really enjoyable. The story, while not the best in the series, was still a good enough adventure that I was proud to be a part of. Speaking…
