Caption Contest 257: “Asleep on the job again?”
Posted on June 15 2020 by Rod Lloyd
Greetings, Zelda fans! I hope you’re ready for yet another exciting entry of ZD’s Caption Contest! There have been a lot of big-name game releases the past few months, including Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Resident Evil 3 Remake, and Final Fantasy VII Remake. The latter game mentioned has the been the one I’ve seen the biggest buzz for, as FF fans have praised (or lamented) the ways in which the classic adventure was updated for modern audiences. So, in honor of the FF7 remake, this week’s contest features a crossover between Cloud Strife and Princess Zelda.
Last Week’s Contest:
Just in time for the one-year anniversary of Breath of the Wild 2‘s debut trailer, we highlighted a cute piece of fan art inspired by the upcoming game.

Here are our non-photo caption winners:
- LinkLink: Link: “I was expecting a little more flare from your Dins Fire”.
- JessterK2: “Don’t worry Link, it could be worse…see that dark pit over there? That’s the pit of despair, where, according to legend, Metroid Prime 4 resides. Languishing forever in perpetual development hell…just when they think they’ll see the light of day, they are cast back to the depths to start the cycle over again. At least we are not doomed to suffer their fate.”
- Otwl: “Ganon, Ganon, burning bright,
underground caverns of the night.
What immortal hand or arm,
keeps safe Hyrule from evil’s harm?” - IceRod: “They almost “matched” everything to this scene….”
- Dylan: Zelda: Link what are you looking at?
Link: well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssseeeeee me priiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnncesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss! i’m looking at this painting of old monkey man with trident on toyata corolla.
This Week’s Contest:
What diabolical plans could Zelda have for the spiky-haired SOLDIER?
Here are the guidelines:
- Please refrain from using offensive material (racial, sexual, overuse of offensive language, etc.) We want to make the contest fun and accessible for fans of all ages. When in doubt, keep it Nintendo.
- If you don’t have the ability to edit the image, just leave it as a comment. We make sure to have a separate list of winners for this category.
- Photo editing and manipulation (i.e. Photoshop) is allowed, but these entries will be part of a separate list of winners for this category.
- Everyone is entitled to their own opinion at Zelda Dungeon. In fact, we encourage discussion based on those opinions. However, please do not insult other fans’ work. What may be funny to one person may not hold true for another… and that’s OK.
- Have fun and be creative!
Don’t forget to check back throughout the week and upvote your favorites, and, who knows? Maybe you will be one of next week’s winners!
