Hey there, everyone! The Zelda Dungeon Caption Contest is back again! I just finished the Link’s Awakening remake — with 100%, no less — and I simply cannot express how much fun I had playing through it. However, there were a few moments when frustration all but drowned out the fun, and these moments were exclusively related to the Trendy Game. Whereas Koholint’s gimmicky crane game was pretty simple in the original game, Link’s Awakening Switch takes advantage of a new physics engine in order to screw you out of prizes again and again. So, to make up for the prizes we’ve all been cheated out of since the game released, we’re giving away some prizes to the winners of this week’s contest!

Last Week’s Contest:

Link sat down to construct some Chamber Dungeons last week.

And here are our non-photo caption winners:

  • Ian Comtois (The Unplanner): “Checkmate”
  • Mark Hopkins: “When the first area 51 raid was a failure but you REALLY want the secret to a fully cooked hot pocket 😤”
  • Hunter Muhlestein: “Hmm…so you just put it together? Oh! Like Hexbugs? I loved Hexbugs…oh, not the same? How about Catan? No? Maybe…no that won’t work…”
“Listen. Just put the pieces together, and try to make it difficult-“
“Oh, I can do difficult! Do you mean-“
“Just focus on the Dungeon, sir. Just focus on the dungeon.”
    5 hours later…
“So. I just place the chamber here? Like, just put it next to the first one?”
    *banging head in frustration*
  • Dylan: Link: what to put down next in my Dungeon?
    Dampe’: How about some Dragons?
  • tabascoman: Link: alright, so this is the part where I roll the dice, right?
Dampe: no, you actually have to go into the dungeon.

This Week’s Contest:

As usual, we accept entries in three different categories: photo captions, non-photo captions, and photoshop. We will award the winner of each category something from the Zelda Dungeon prize bag!

Here are the guidelines:

  • Please refrain from using offensive material (racial, sexual, overuse of offensive language, etc.) We want to make the contest fun and accessible for fans of all ages. When in doubt, keep it Nintendo.
  • If you don’t have the ability to edit the image, just leave it as a comment. We make sure to have a separate list of winners for this category.
  • Photo editing and manipulation (i.e. Photoshop) is allowed, but these entries will be part of a separate list of winners for this category.
  • Everyone is entitled to their own opinion at Zelda Dungeon. In fact, we encourage discussion based on those opinions. However, please do not insult other fans’ work. What may be funny to one person may not hold true for another… and that’s OK.
  • Have fun and be creative!

Don’t forget to check back throughout the week and upvote your favorites, and, who knows?  Maybe you will be one of next week’s winners!
