One of the most infuriating things in my opinion when it comes to Breath of the Wild is the durability system. Aside from the Master Sword, any other amazing weapon or shield you obtain has a short life span on it. I can easily say that I don’t use 75% of my powerful weapons because I don’t want to lose them. Thanks to some amazing Zelda fans though, there’s currently a way to help make more of that beloved weapon of yours.

This Zelda glitch is the same one done by a Japanese gaming channel called AM4V wherein they showed how to drop and duplicate the Master Sword. While this trick is a bit complicated, Austin John helps break down the process for viewers. Austin says that he wanted to find a way to take that original bug, and show everyone else the exact process on how to pull it off.

The requirements in order to pull off this somewhat complicated glitch are the following:

  • About 6 – 10 Bows with x3 or x5 arrow multipliers.
  • Great Thunderblade
  • Bokoblin Mask
  • The item(s) you want to duplicate.
  • Heavy Defensive Armor (Thunderhelm is Optional)
  • Recovery Items (including Cold & Heat Resistant ones)
  • Plenty of Empty Inventory Slots

Once you have everything you’ll need for this trick, the next step is for Link to head to the Gerudo Desert. More specifically, fast travel over to the Hawa Koth Shrine (the one next to the Great Fairy Fountain). When he arrives, you’ll head a bit north from that point over to a Bokoblin camp (it should appear on your map as a skull-shaped structure).

Also, make sure that Link is wearing the Bokoblin mask before entering. Once you arrive at the enemy camp, get all of the Bokoblin’s attention. Next, head over to the opening of the giant skull base so you can get the six Bokoblin’s inside to come out and circle around you.

When they are in a perfect circle around Link, use a charged spin attack with the Great Thunderblade in order to disarm (not kill) them. Now that they are stunned and disarmed, go around these Bokoblin’s and take all of their weapons and shields. After you’ve taken care of the Bokoblin’s on the ground, head up to the ones on the lookout posts. You are going to need to make sure they are disarmed too (picking up their bows as well).

Once all of the weapon-less Bokoblin’s are on the ground chasing after Link, get them packed together as best as you can. After this, go into your bow inventory and drop the x3 or x5 bows you brought for this trick. All of the Bokoblin’s will now grab the bow’s Link has dropped and begin firing at you.

Get a good distance from them and then let the Bokoblin’s start firing at Link (with bows equipped they’ll fire from afar). You will also need to make sure that the majority of them are in a tight-knit circle when firing with the bows. This is also the part where you either need to have a thunder resistance item on or the Thunderhelm equipped. Some of the arrows they will be firing at Link will be Shock Arrows.

When enough arrows are on screen and have been fired at you, check your inventory. All that should appear for the character model on this screen is Link’s head and the weapons he currently has equipped. As soon as this happens, equip the shield and/or weapon you want to be duplicated.

Un-pausing the game will show that your character should have the item(s) you want copied equipped. Pause the game again and this time Link should be nothing more than just a head on the inventory screen. The next step will be to equip a/the different weapon(s) you’re not cloning. The indicator for doing this correctly will be a slight variation of the weapon equip sound in the item menu.

When you un-pause the game this time, Link should still have the two items you want to copy equipped. Go back to your inventory and un-equip your thunder-resistant item. Take a hit from a Shock Arrow and then pick up the item(s) you dropped. If you now check your inventory, the clone of that/those weapon(s) should be there. From here on in you just copy and paste this method to get what you want.

Austin does provide warning that you should be wary of your health and the temperature outside. If at any point during this glitch you die, it’ll reset all of the hard work you just did. Also be careful not to pick up any weapons laying around that aren’t the one(s) you want to duplicate. If this happens, you will need to wait until the next blood moon in order to try again.

The glitch trick shown in the video is done with the most current patch of the game. As of this writing, the current version of Breath of the Wild is 1.2. I would highly recommend trying at your own risk.
