Update: Investigations by GameXplain and other outlets have clarified the statements made by Breath of the Wild‘s Spanish voice actors Marc Navarro and Nerea Alfonso on the Un Café con Nintendo podcast. Though the voice actors did joke about the subject, they neither confirmed nor denied that they have done any work on Breath of the Wild 2. They also emphasized that they are not permitted to confirm that voice work has even started or that they are involved.

Un Café con Nintendo has issued a statement denying reports by Gamereactor and subsequent outlets, describing them as “incorrect and out-of-context.”

Original: The sequel to Breath of the Wild has not been seen since last year’s E3. Any other news surrounding the game that we’ve received since has been rumors, speculation, and vague job listings. As of right now, there hasn’t even been a confirmation of any big Nintendo Directs happening in the foreseeable future. So color us surprised when some Breath of the Wild 2 news just drops from out of nowhere.

In a recent interview with the Un Café con Nintendo podcast, Breath of the Wild Spanish voice actors Marc Navarro and Nerea Alfonso (Revali and Princess Zelda, respectively) told the host that their work on the sequel is done. Almost immediately after saying this, they questioned whether or not they should have revealed that information.

Video Games Chronicle points out that localized voice acting is usually the last thing the game audio design department has to complete. While this does not necessarily mean that the Breath of the Wild sequel is 100% complete, it could mean that the game is further on in development than some have speculated. Whenever the next big Nintendo Direct happens, we hope to see some more news on the highly anticipated title.
