Bootleg Mobile Game Featuring Stolen Nintendo Characters Sends Shock Waves Through the Internet

When Pokémon GO became a viral mobile craze back in 2016, I’m sure many people thought it would open a doorway for Nintendo to properly branch into the mobile gaming sphere. It’s been five years since, and I wouldn’t necessarily say Nintendo is doing that. While the company is slowly adapting some of its IP’s to mobile games, other mobile developers have had no shame in ripping off Nintendo’s content in the meantime. The most recent culprit is Super Fighter M – All Stars, a recently terminated Gacha Action-RPG developed for Android on the Google Play Store, which has taken the Internet by storm this past week.
This bootleg of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which blatantly used iconic Nintendo characters like Link, Mario, and Donkey Kong, among others, originally released sometime in 2019 and managed to fly under the radar for a while. It drew more attention when it was given an English release six months ago by publisher Caymen Game Inc., (the original Chinese developer is unknown). Last month, the game was finally taken off the Google Play Store; according to TV Tropes, there were complaints over bypassing disabled in-app purchases, while Bootleg Games Wiki speculates Nintendo filed a DMCA claim which ultimately led to the game’s removal. The latter possibility adds up since the developer/publisher had the leg room to try making an appeal.
Although the game is now unavailable, it’s seen a second wind with videos of its character selection screen popping up around Twitter. The game adds some insane voice acting, with one of the more notable examples being Link saying, “I don’t talk much,” in a voice I don’t think anyone would imagine him having. The videos are hilarious, as other Nintendo characters have completely random and corny phrases.
We should start quoting the character select screen for this unlicensed bootleg mobile game from the Cayman Islands the way we did w/ Step Brothers and Anchorman pic.twitter.com/GT6XXy3srP

If there is any take away here, it’s that maybe there is a desire for a game like Super Smash Bros. to get a mobile release? Honestly, I could probably imagine Mario Party working well as a mobile game too.
Which character’s phrase do you like the best? What are some future official mobile releases you’d like to see from Nintendo? Sound off in the comments below!
