Earlier today, Playtonic Games and Castle Pixel released a trailer announcing the release date for the upcoming Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince. The game will launch on Steam and Nintendo Switch on August 16th. The original game, Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King, was released in 2017. As a whole, the Blossom Tales series draws inspiration from 2D Zelda games like A Link To The Past.

The Playtonic Games webpage for Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince describes the game as taking the player on a journey through “haunted forests, pirate shores, and other mysterious lands across a vast open-world! Charming towns, terrible enemies, tricky puzzles, and powerful weapons await you”. Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince looks (and sounds) like another great game for fans of classic 2D Zelda. It has been a long time since there was an original 2D Zelda game from Nintendo, so it is reassuring to see that other developers are still blazing a trail forward.

Reflecting on Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King for our Inspired by Zelda series, Zelda Dungeon called the game a “charming, fun adventure full of heart and made with love”. The original game took strong inspiration from games like A Link to the Past, The Minish Cap, and A Link Between Worlds. It is exciting to see Castle Pixel taking the next step in its journey as a developer with its second entry in the Blossom Tales series.
