Behold the Might of Calamity Ganon With this Polymer Clay Sculpture
Posted on September 22 2021 by John Piland
Among villains, Calamity Ganon is a striking image if ever there was one. Craftmaker and Breath of the Wild fan, Adam of North of the Border must have thought so too when he decided to sculpt this polymer clay Calamity Ganon before even beating him in-game.
Through no-short work, what starts as just some aluminum and black clay becomes a highly detailed sculpture with myriad intricate features. Creating this craft is quite the process, but Adam details how to do it with a step-by-step walkthrough of his process, involving materials such as wires, clay, and resin, among others. I’m not much of a sculptor, but I do appreciate all the work that goes into making sculptures, so I really enjoyed watching this tutorial. If I’m to be honest, watching this made me want to try making one of my own.
This is but one of many Zelda sculptures by North of the Border. Adam’s done many, many more, such as a Molduga, Link’s House, and even Outset Island. Of course, his work doesn’t end with Zelda, and among characters from various franchises, the sculptor has even created a Mines of Moria Infinity Box book nook.

John has been a Zelda fan for over 10 years now and is proud to say the series has had a major impact on his life (and wallet). After years of going to Zelda Dungeon for guides or the latest news on the series, John achieved their dream when they joined the writing team in 2019; John can hardly believe how long it’s been. A librarian, he loves meticulously arranging his library of Zelda games and collectibles. After what felt like an eternity of waiting for Tears of the Kingdom, John looks forward to the future of the Zelda franchise with enthusiasm, whether that’s the upcoming movie, a new spin-off/remake, or the next big game.
