Our friends at Hyrule.net have gotten their hands on the Japanese soundtrack reward for registering Ocarina of Time 3D on Club Nintendo. This CD has 51 tracks from Ocarina of Time 3D including the one orchestrated track that appears in the game. They’re the same songs composed by Koji Kondo in 1998, remastered for the 3DS by Mahito Yokota. The Nintendo of America CDs still haven’t shipped yet, but if you just can’t wait, or are one of the many…

Wired recently held an interview with Mario series producer Yoshiaki Koizumi. Koizumi also worked in various capacities on several of the earlier Zelda games, from A Link to the Past through The Wind Waker. While speaking of the future of Mario on the Wii U, he was reminded of an experience from the days of Majora’s Mask development. Here’s the excerpt from Wired’s article: “When I think about the two screens being used at the same time, it seems like…

An interview with Aonuma from around E3 was just published in this week’s Famitsu Magazine. In it, he confirms a lot of things that we have suspected and mentions some new things for us to think about. The people of Skyloft will be an important part of the story, and some more of Link and Zelda’s life in the clouds is revealed. Aonuma equates this to the NPCs of Majora’s Mask, which is good news for those of us who…

Ocarina of Time 3DS has its fair share of glitches, some of which are brand new, and some of which have existed since the original. Are these oversights on the part of the Grezzo programming team or the Mario Club? Some may be, but many were intentionally left in to keep the “taste” of the N64 classic alive in this new game. Grezzo programmers reveal this and more in the newest Ocarina of Time 3D Iwata Asks interview. Shun Moriya:…

Now that many of you have had a taste of the newest version of Ocarina of Time, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata takes us behind-the-scenes of the development of the 1998 N64 game, with staff reactions to the 2011 remake. These two interviews (part of a series of five) feature lots of interesting interaction between the staff and insights into the game’s development. Some of the information you may already know if you’ve been following Iwata Asks and other interviews, but…

When Ocarina of Time was first released in 1998 for the N64, Miyamoto and other developers made no secret of the fact that it was the very first game in the Zelda timeline. It was written to coincide with the events of the Imprisoning War in the backstory of A Link to the Past, which was itself a prequel to the original two games. As the series progressed however, questions arose about how consistent Ocarina of Time’s story was with…

Update 3: The last letter has been posted, and you can see it after the jump. The answer is Triforce. Starting Tuesday, Nintendo has been tweeting Zelda-related clues for a secret Hylian message. Each tweet has included an image of a Hylian letter and a hint from Ocarina of Time trivia. I don’t think it’s going to be a password to unlock anything special, but just a fun activity in honor of Ocarina of Time 3DS (they’re including the hash…

As I had expected, Nintendo’s E3 2011 press conference treated us with not another gameplay trailer but a cinematic trailer for Skyward Sword featuring much of the early story. It was well put together, giving us a good feel of what the beginning of the game will be like without actually revealing too much of the story itself. It’s enough to prepare us for it while still allowing us the full experience when the game finally comes out. As always…

Tuesday evening after Nintendo’s press conference, they hosted their annual developers roundtable, where they showed select representatives even more Skyward Sword and 3DS content and answered a few questions. Recording devices weren’t allowed, but some sites like IGN, Gamespot, and Kotaku hosted live blogs to keep outsiders updated. Nintendo released their own video footage of the event, which you can watch above. Click read more for a summary of the new Skyward Sword info.
