April Fools Day Round Up

April Fools DaySo April Fools day has come and gone and as usual there were several jokes around the Zelda community to laugh about. Nothing as elaborate as IGN’s Zelda Movie Trailer from years ago, but listed below are some of the jokes that were interesting.

Over at Zelda Universe, this years joke was that Eiji Aonuma had been fired from Nintendo after showing up to work drunk and harassing other employees. In his rage after hearing of his firing, Eiji Aonuma erased all physical and digital copies of Zelda Wii, including all documentation, setting Nintendo years back in time.

Elsewhere in the community, the folks over at LegendofZelda.com shut down their site and claimed that it was sold off to other Zelda websites in the community. One of the purchasers of the site was us here at Zelda Dungeon!

The guys over at Exploding Deku Nut created a news paper type page, citing that they were more or less leaving the internet Zelda community in pursue of the flourishing in print newspaper industry. Most of the article was a play on society and had references to what life was like decades ago, before the internet ruled many of our lives.

Lastly, the guys over at Zelda Comic have updated their website! Wait a second, this isn’t an April Fools joke actually, but it has been 9 months since their previous update so it sure seems like one! This comic continues Link’s adventure, along with Rauru, Saria, Navi, Pit from Kid Icarus, and one of the lizards from Bubble Bobble as they quest for the Great Palace. You can check out the full comics archive over at their site.

There were a couple more goodies around the community but this pretty much rounds it up. Here at Zelda Dungeon we haven’t done a proper April Fools joke in years. Actually, last year on April Fools Day Dabombster was formally promoted to a Webmaster at the site… and the year before that Caleb officially announced that he was getting married! Neither were actually April Fools jokes and we realized soon after posting them that it was April Fools day! At least we didn’t make that same mistake again. Hope you all enjoyed these days and now we can take news a bit more serious for the next 364 days of the year! Until then, you can enjoy IGN’s fake movie trailer release on April Fools days years ago.
