As most of you probably know by now, during the Nintendo Direct live stream last week a sequel to A Link to the Past was announced for the 3DS. Eiji Aonuma, the executive producer of the Legend of Zelda games, has recently posted on Miiverse, and given a couple comments on the sequel to the Highly regarded classic.

Aonuma talks about how long the title has been in the works, and gives a short description of the game.

To see what he had to say, hit the jump!

Aonuma described the game on Miiverse with the following statement:

“The world of Hyrule has been reborn in a highly realistic stereoscopic vision, which will feature a new story and new puzzles to be solved. The development for the successor of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is going smoothly, so, please look forward to it!”

According to siliconera Aonuma has hinted that the idea of recreating a 2D Zelda world into 3D has been in the works since 2011. He ended his Miiverse post saying:

“The day we’ll be seeing the successor is still further ahead, but for those of you who wish to contribute or show your support, please comment on the Wii U The Legend of Zelda series community [on Miiverse].”

I am personally very excited to not only play this game, but hear these small samples of information as they come through. I think this will be a great Zelda game, especially for those who enjoyed A Link to the Past.

But what are your thoughts? Does this get you more excited for the game, or is this not your cup of tea? Leave your thoughts and opinions below!
