Nintendo has been scarcely giving up any details about the upcoming Zelda title for the Wii U, but in a recent interview with EDGE, series producer Eiji Aonuma discussed the newly added open world feature, saying:

“Since we’re talking about open worlds, let’s state upfront that we don’t plan to have an open world in the same way other companies have been doing in recent years.” — Eiji Aonuma

It sure is interesting to see a discussion, if only a statement long, about Zelda U, and Aonuma seems to be reflecting on a theme of how the open world for Zelda U will be dynamically different than the open world games we know such as The Elder Scrolls and Grand Theft Auto. I hope that the open world that Aonuma keeps describing redefines the term “open world”, but for now all we can do is speculate.
