According to Nintendo Everything, Eiji Aonuma has mentioned somewhere in the pages of Game Informer’s latest magazine that Skyward Sword’s artwork style and it’s story will more than likely not appear in another Zelda game. Here’s what Eiji said:

“With Wind Waker, the graphics were suited to handheld gaming. Also the game ended with Link embarking on a journey, so it left open the possibility of what comes after the game. With Skyward Sword, positioning it as the first Zelda game means everything else connects to it and comes after it. It becomes a little bit difficult to do something else within that world and certainly much more difficult to do something that comes before it.”

Quite honestly I’m not surprised that Skyward Sword might not get a sequel or a prequel to it. It’s just as Aonuma said, it’s kinda hard to do something like that when the game is the first game in the timeline and everything before it and after it is basically already known. As far as not seeing the artwork style again, I’m kinda disappointed seeing as I am fond of the look, but at the same time I’m not as since I can’t really see that style being used again unless it’s in a game that’s related to Skyward Sword. And that of course we know will probably not happen for the reasons stated above.
