Update: A new image of the 3DS has been added to the gallery.

Update 2: The 3DS can now be pre-ordered online and can be shipped.

Update 3: It looks like the 3DS is now sold out.

Nintendo has just announced two new 3DS units: one is a regular-sized Happy Home Designer New Nintendo 3DS, and the other is a gold-colored New Nintendo 3DS XL called the “Hyrule Edition.” It appears to be a slightly modified version of 3DS clip armor released earlier this year, and is currently able to be reserved on the GameStop website here for $199.99 USD. It can not be pre-ordered, as this 3DS is only available in-store at select GameStop locations on October 30th. Two full-sized images of the handheld console and its box art are viewable below.

Interestingly enough, on GameStop’s website the Zelda-themed 3DS unit is listed as the “Hyrule Gold Edition,” and not the “Hyrule Edition” as it was referred to in a statement released by Nintendo PR. Personally, I like Hyrule Edition better.

Here is the statement from Nintendo PR:

“…In addition, a Hyrule Edition New Nintendo 3DS XL system will launch exclusively in GameStop stores on Oct. 30 at a suggested retail price of $199.99, just in time for the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (sold separately) on Oct. 23. The system is gold-colored and features an intricate Hylian Crest on the front.”
