Future publishing isn’t exactly well liked by many outsiders, but they are one of the worlds biggest magazine publishing firms. Future today has announced they have printed the very last edition of Nintendo Gamer Magazine, originally noted with a special farewell at the end of the latest edition of the magazine. That ends a 20 year run for the well liked publication, though the website will continue to go on as always. Employees from the publication have been transfered to other Future related projects. Here is the official statement from Future:

“After careful consideration we’ve taken the decision to close Nintendo Gamer magazine. However, with Future’s ongoing strategy to drive digital growth across its international, digitally-focussed brand business, the website, Nintendo-Gamer.net will continue as excitement builds ahead of Nintendo’s Wii U launch.”

This means Future no longer publishes any Nintendo related products anymore. Thankfully, we can still rely on the Official Nintendo Magazine out of the UK to deliver it’s goodness, even if it’s across the ocean. Does this mark the end of paper publications relating to Nintendo? Will a new Nintendo related magazine step in to fill the gap? Only time will tell. For now, farewell Nintendo Gamer Magazine. You will be missed.
