himebo Akira Himekawa recently announced that they’d be producing another full length Legend of Zelda manga, however, they did not reveal off of what game the manga would be based. Well, Brian Gabriel of Hammerspace has deducted that the likeliest candidate is Twilight Princess. Himekawa had released scrapped concept art for a Twilight Princess comic some years ago, and looking at the silhouette of Link in the recent announcement picture, it’s clear that the design was pulled straight from the Twilight Princess concept art, sans Wolf Link.

This could be purely coincidental, chosen for convenience, or the silhouette may not actually be a match, but it seems way too precise to me. You be the judge, compare the pieces after the jump!

Looks like a pretty solid comparison to me. There is some concern over Himekawa producing a manga for a game nearly ten years after the its release (usually the comics come out around the same time as the game’s release), but it’s been two years since A Link Between Worlds and four since Skyward Sword. At this point, I think the duo has the greenlight to choose whichever game they want, especially considering Tri Force Heroes probably won’t have much of a story to go off of. And with the manga set to come out before the end of this year, Himekawa’s having already put some thought into a Twilight Princess comic would warrant its being finished so quickly.

I for one would be thrilled to see a Twilight Princess manga. Is there another Zelda game that you’d rather the comic be based on? Do you think that the silhouette is an accurate enough gauge for which game the new comic will follow? Do you think the Himekawa may actually expand upon the Skyward Sword manga they produced for Hyrule Historia instead?
