One of the most popular melodies the player learns in Ocarina of Time is the “Sun’s Song”. This 6-note tune appears not only in this game, but across multiple other entries in the series. Learning it hands us control of the day / night cycle, allowing us to switch between the two at our leisure.

In a recent video, YouTube theorist Swankybox shares his thoughts on the effects of the “Sun’s Song”. He starts by giving a brief description of the history of the song and its composers, Sharp and Flat, and how they met their demise. From here, he goes on to present some numbers on how exactly the song effects the celestial bodies and what this would mean for those living on the planet below. Without wanting to spoil too much, it’s not good news.

Alongside this video, Swankybox has also published theories on topics ranging from the fate of Link’s mother in Ocarina of Time, to discussing possible cut content from Luigi’s Mansion. You can find more of his theories on his Youtube Channel.

What do you think of this theory? Personally, I find it unlikely that the song has such a large effect, but, as Swankybox says himself, applying logic to video games doesn’t always have fantastic outcomes. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section!
