A Reorchestration of Nintendo’s Less Celebrated Tunes
Posted on April 25 2014 by Legacy Staff
There are some video game melodies that are so famous and well-known that they have spawned hundreds upon hundreds of covers. I’m talking about the main Mario theme, the main Legend of Zelda theme, the main Pokémon theme and so on. Almost every major musician that delights on reinterpreting video game music has tackled these pieces, sometimes even more than once. Some of them, like Mega Man 2‘s Wily’s Castle Stage, have become viral. Isn’t it time to give a little love to those tunes that are less well known? Nintendo Underdogs Reorchestrated seems to think so, and so they are kickstarting a CD that will bring new life to some very fine melodies.
62 hours remain to back up this project, and they still are 2000$+ shy of their 6000$ goal, which is a real shame, for, should this CD be released, we would be listening to such amazing tunes as the “Overworld” of Super Mario Bros. 2, “Agate Village” of Pokemon Colosseum, “The Final Trial” of Pikmin and “Isn’t This Such a Utopia?!” of Mother 3—all of which can be found here. However, should this campaign be successful, there will be future NUREO projects, as there are over 130 scores planned for future projects.
