A Link to the Past Anime Project Launches a Kickstarter
Posted on July 13 2015 by Rod Lloyd
Last year, Aeipathy Industries released the first episode of their ambitious Zeldamotion project, an animated adaptation of Akira Himekawa’s A Link to the Past manga. Fans have eagerly awaited the series’ second episode, but production has proved time-consuming for Aeipathy’s small yet talented team. Today, the team has officially launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the completion of the project, with their ultimate goal to produce a full 90-minute A Link to the Past film.
The Kickstarter campaign’s base goal of $24,000 USD will be used to finish the next episode of the
A Link to the Past project. The remaining stretch goals will be used to complete additional episodes in the series, with a timely release schedule for each new installment. Rather than spend years to release a single episode, Aeipathy aims to produce and release each new 8 to 11-minute episode in only a few months’ time. With a final goal of $298,000 USD, the team ultimately hopes to complete the series as a full 90-minute A Link to the Past film. Beyond that, Aeipathy may even tackle more games in the Zelda series, such as Ocarina of Time.
Aeipathy Industries’ Zeldamotion project was initially conceived as a motion comic adaptation of Akira Himekawa’s
A Link to the Past manga, eventually becoming a fully animated and voice-acted anime adaption of the story. Helmed by director and lead animator Michael Patch, this ambitious project spent a few years in development, with the first episode released in September of last year. Featuring amazing artwork, great writing, and the voice talents of anime veterans like Todd Haberkorn (Fairy Tail), Vic Mignogna (Full Metal Alchemist), Kent Williams (The Mightiest Disciple), and Kira Buckland (5 Centimeters Per Second), the Zeldamotion project has proved to be a moving, high-quality production. It truly is a series that any Zelda fan would appreciate.
