A-Link-Between-Worlds-Walkthrough-Art-NewWith tons of new information for A Link Between Worlds being released through both today’s Nintendo Direct and some official artwork, we have now been able to finally compile a decent understanding of the structure of this upcoming 3DS title, specifically, the abundance of characters both new and old. Come November 22nd, we’re all going to be treated to some curious new characters, as well as some pleasantly surprising old faces!

So which characters will be making their glorious 3D debuts? Hit the jump to find out!

The New Characters:

Ravio2

The most accentuated new character would have to be the strange new rabbit-esque shopkeeper, Ravio. Ravio’s Shop rents out items to Link throughout his journey, each one being useful in a specific dungeon. This allows the player to decide the order in which he/she completes the game’s dungeons. Ravio is a strange-looking character, who very much resembles Nabbit, of New Super Mario Bros. U, but it has been confirmed that the two have no relation.

Second we have Hilda. Looking very much like a dark version of this game’s Princess Zelda character, she holds a scepter with the upside-down Triforce atop it. This, of course, seems representative of the dark Triforce seen in the box art and logo of A Link Between Worlds. Although the name “Dark Zelda” is being used, there is merely circumstantial evidence of this being the case. For now, she is merely “Hilda.”

Irene

We also see a new witch called Irene resembling Maple, of Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. She considers herself the greatest witch of the generation, rides a broomstick and wears the traditional witch’s garb.

-Dark-Character

This picture shows an unknown character, as of now. The dark Triforce on his cloak presents the possibility that he resides in the Dark World, and his pants and shoes resemble those of a genie. His red hair and long nose bring to mind the Gerudo people, specifically Ganondorf. He looks extremely sinister and could likely be a villain.

-Young-Child

Lastly we see some minor characters, including multiple villagers (one of which looks remarkably like Link) and a large green woman who is most likely Queen Zora, as opposed to the King Zora of past games.

Returning Characters:

Dampe

We are once again graced with Dampe’s presence! The toothless, crooked, old Hylian gravedigger originally appeared in Ocarina of Time, and has since appeared in four Zelda games. He’s always been a very minor character, but to many veterans of the series, he’s a great familiar face!

Sahasrahla

Perhaps more interesting is the return of Sahasrahla, or rather, his descendant bearing the same name. One of the most important characters in A Link to the Past, Sahasrahla served as Link’s guide, often speaking to him through telepathic tiles scattered throughout dungeons, or giving him directions in order to achieve his goals. In A Link Between Worlds, he knows of the events that occurred in A Link to the Past, and tells the story of Ganon to Link.

Impa?

As always, there are new interpretations of the Link and Zelda characters, who look a bit younger this time around. Zelda also seems to have an elderly assistant who bears a Triforce on her chest. Could this perhaps be the ever-recurring Impa?

So with all of this information, I’d love to know what you guys think! What could Hilda’s purpose be? Could the fark figure be a new antagonist? Who is that kid who so much resembles Link? Go on ahead and speculate!
