I can’t count the number of times I’ve stated that my favorite game in the Zelda series is A Link to the Past. While some of that passion for the game is tied to a personal history, I still believe that the game stands as one of the greatest experiences in gaming history. So, when Viz decided to release the Nintendo Power comic featuring A Link to the Past, I was ecstatic. Well, our friend, Derrick, over at GameXplain has uploaded a video showing off the reprint. Check out the embedded video above to get a glimpse into the magic.

I love this story, and to see it fleshed out in comic form is…when I come up with a description bigger than “mind-blowingly incredible” I’ll let you know. It is worth noting that, just like in the

Zelda manga series, Link does talk in this story. So for those of you who are skeptical about giving Link a voice, I urge you to check this out and see if it changes your mind. The panels of the comic also provide a somewhat comical approach to our hero. You can check out the video to get a better understanding of the artistic style, but I love the idea that a young Link doesn’t see giant monsters and say, “Okay, here we go.” He’s terrified, and it’s hilarious. If you want to get a general idea, search YouTube for “The Real Legend of Zelda”. Trust me, it’s worth it.

I am really excited to snag myself a copy of this comic. But, now it’s time for you to let us know what you think. Are you interested in grabbing one for yourself? What do you think of the comic book form of The Legend of Zelda? Do you think this shows promise for a movie or TV show where Link does talk and does have a personality?
