Ladies and gentleman, my name is Kristen. Rosario. And I am your host for the CAVE OF TRIALS! Now before we talk a little about what’s to come for this week (as well as next week), let’s get into the winner of last week’s bout. Let’s start off by announcing that unfortunately, Demise was not able to vanquish the undisputed one known as Midna. So this, of course, means that STILL your NEW ERA Cave of Trials Champion, Midna! Her…

The past 6 months have been big for indie game studio Heart Machine, with their first game, Hyper Light Drifter (2016), making its way to the Nintendo Switch and the recent announcement of a successor, Solar Ash Kingdom. Now, Heart Machine head Alx Preston has announced that Hyper Light Drifter will return in the form of an animated TV series with indie-animator/film director Adi Shankar of Netflix original Castlevania, and upcoming animated series Devil May Cry and Assassin’s Creed. At this point, things are…

Nintendo dropped quite the bombshell on us last week! In our newest entry in our Hyrule Compendium series, we discuss the recently announced Cadence of Hyrule. We give our initial impressions on the game and give some thoughts on what we think this could mean for the Zelda series. The Zelda series has evolved both in graphics and gameplay over the years, and maybe the most obvious shift was the camera angle. The original Legend of Zelda featured an overhead camera angle that (with the exception of Zelda II’s side scrolling map), persisted for several games after that until Ocarina of Time. The YouTube channel How To Drink recently uploaded a video showing off just how to make these delicious looking concoctions. Host Greg talks through a brief history…

You’ll probably notice Soul Calibur II sticks out as a noticeably more mature game in the lineup of kid-friendly adventure games, and that’s because as soon as I realized that Link was on the boxart for Soul Calibur II, I wanted to play as him. Did…

“Song of Storms” is one of the integral tunes that Link learns to play during his quest in Ocarina of Time. An incredibly simple but catchy and iconic melody, “Song of Storms” has become a popular song for musicians to cover over the years. Ranging from sweeping, epic orchestrations to dubstep covers, “Song of Storms” has been re-imagined across various musical genres, including jazz, as performed by insaneintherainmusic. This cover does more than simply replay the song with a saxophone,…

“How much further is this place?” A young soldier asked, peeking his head out from the side of the wagon. “Depends,” the driver responded with a shrug. He turned briefly to look back, but adjusted his scarf to keep the whipping sand from getting in his mouth, “this is pretty mild sandstorm but if she gets worse…” The soldier nodded and ducked back into the tent then shaking his face free of the sand that had built up around the…
