2009 Golden Item Awards

Every year during the month of February, members of the online Zelda community nominate websites for Exploding Deku Nut’s Golden Item Awards. In March of that year, the awards are given out to five websites in five different categories, ranging from the site that has the most lively forums, to the site that has the prettiest layout. The results were just released yesterday and I’m happy to announce that two of my personal favorite Zelda websites won in this years awards.

Our friends over at North Castle won the honor of Lifetime Achievement. This award means a lot to me as it showcases the individual Webmaster’s long term dedication to their website. As the recipient of the award from last year, I believe that there is nobody in the Zelda community that is more deserving of this award than Juliet of North Castle. Not only has she been running her website for almost 12 years, but she is also a good friend of mine, and I’m very happy that she got this long overdue award. Juliet started North Castle when I was only 10 years old, an age where I didn’t even have internet access, let alone thoughts of my own Zelda website. Congratulations Juliet.

Another one of my favorite Zelda websites, Zelda Classic was the recipient of the Golden Deku Nut, signifying the most unique Zelda website. The Zelda Classic website has been around for nearly 10 years, and it has spawned hundreds of Zelda fan made quests, and even other Zelda Classic resource websites. Zelda Classic is a website that I’ve nominated several years in a row for this award and I’m pleased that they finally were able to win this deserving award. Congratulations to Zelda Classic.

Congratulations to North Castle, Zelda Classic, and all the rest of the recipients of the awards, including Legends and Adventure, Zelda Temple, and Zelda Universe.
