This turned out to be a staged event, paid for by GameStop.

Original Story:

The US West Coast

Smash scene is home to a number of the world’s top competitive players like Mango and Mew2King. Recently however, a new star was born in the form of a 10 year old girl. Karissa “The Destroyer” attended a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U event at a local GameStop where she had a dominating presence as a surprise contender. A number of the region’s top players were blown away by the amount of skill that Karissa portrayed. When she lost a match, it was close. When she won, it was by a fairly large margin.

I’ll be honest, I’ve only recently taken to the competitive scene so I may not be the best judge when it comes to how a pro player thinks. What I

do know is that this girl can read a player’s moves better than I can read a graphic novel. If you enjoy a good Smash battle or the feeling of being beyond impressed by the unexpected, take twenty minutes out of your day to watch the video above. It was clearly taken from a mobile device so the quality isn’t the best and it is quite shaky, but I guess that’s to be expected when there is that much excitement in a single room.

Afterward, let us know what you think in the comments below. Do you think you could take on “The Destroyer”? I think it would be fun, but I didn’t feel confident after hearing that she didn’t even play her main, Rosalina & Luma.
