The Spirit of the Mansion is a voice that is heard in the DX version and remake of Link's Awakening. The owner of the voice is never seen, but it speaks to Link in his visits to the Seashell Mansion. When he first enters the building, the spirit greets him and tells him to collect Secret Seashells to banish the darkness.[1] After that, if Link arrives with a particular number of seashells, the spirit will reward him with another seashell as a gift. Otherwise, there is no response from the being.[2] In the DX version, once Link collects 20 or more seashells, the spirit says that his job is finished, and then the Koholint Sword appears.[3] However, the Spirit of the Mansion speaks more in the remake, instructing Link to raise his sword overhead after retrieving 40 Secret Seashells to turn it into the Koholint Sword.
