Burrs[1] are green, spiky balls encountered in Skyward Sword. Appearing in most of the Faron Province, it is one of the first enemies found in Faron Woods and can later be found in the Deep Woods, Skyview Temple, and Lake Floria.

Being found on the ground and in water, it is harmless when untouched, but if Link comes into contact with a Burr, it attaches itself to him and turns red, exploding soon after.[2] This inflicts a quarter of a heart of damage to Link.[3] Similar to traps, enemies like the Bokoblin are not affected by the Burrs.[4] Before Link makes contact with one, he can use his sword to hit the Burr, making it turn red and explode. Once a Burr attaches onto Link, he can use a Spin Attack to make it detach from his body.

While Burrs can be on the ground, they are often found stuck on tightropes.[5] Like before, if Link touches a Burr, it attaches to his body and eventually explodes. However, along with damage, it knocks Link off the rope.[3] In order to avoid the Burrs, he can use the Slingshot or the Bow to knock the Burrs off the tightrope. Also, Link can jostle them off the rope or off of himself if the Burrs have attached to Link.[6]

Trivia

  • Burr's name comes from the alternate spelling for bur, a spiky seed pod.
