Hi fellow Zelda Dungeon fanatics and welcome, once again, to another Timeshift Thursday feature! This week I’m looking forward to sharing and discussing a climatic battle scene with you from Link’s latest adventure, Skyward Sword, in which I’ve found the combat before the corresponding final battle to be a richer, more difficult experience. Because Skyward Sword doesn’t include the most amount of highlights for a Zelda game, in my opinion, I haven’t leaned toward writing a feature revolving around the…

Well hey there, guys! Mailbag #89 is here. Before jumping into the questions I address something relating to the marathon last week, as well as correct myself on one of last week’s questions. As for the actual mailbag, this week we’ve got 14 questions, nice variety but with some particular attention on Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask and Skyward Sword. Enjoy, and be sure to tell me your thoughts in the comments. You can watch it here or check out…

Understandably, Skyward Sword’s controls were a concern for many people when the game was announced. I think a lot of us were a little worried that the controls wouldn’t be what we were promised. Pre-release, these sentiments were understandable, but some people are still bothered by Skyward Sword’s controls. When it came out it received some criticisms for having “inaccurate” or “unresponsive” controls. These statements are false. It might seem highly irritating for someone to come in and say that…

Over at GoNintendo, they’ve provided a link to several game reviewers complaining about Skyward Sword’s controls (inside of an otherwise glowing review of the game_ along with a rebuttal to said reviews. The links for both articles can be found below. Basically, the three reviewers in the second link complain that the Wii Motion Plus feature isn’t as great as it’s made out to be. The first reviewer notes that while the controls work most of the time, there are…

There are countless events we look forward to when it comes to playing the games of Legend of Zelda; the first Temple, the introduction of Zelda, and the legendary green tunic. However, one event that really marks the start of your adventure throughout Hyrule, is the receiving of your sword. Within each game and each different storyline, this event is unique. From being given a sword by a kindly old man in a cave, to pulling a sword from a…

Youtube member jamesh446 recently posted a video of the Nintendo Europe seminar for GAMEfest Birmingham demonstrating the controls of Skyward Sword. The video consists of the boss fight with Ghirahim only emphasis was on the player displaying the Wii Motion Plus controls during gameplay. Edit: It appears that this is a part of a series of videos covering demos of Skyward Sword for this event. The other three videos have been added after the break.

We’ve heard all about the amazing Skyward Sword bundle from a Nintendo of America press release, but questions quickly arose whether this would be worldwide or just limited to America. Nintendo hasn’t been very consistent with such deals in recent times, as if you recall it seemed almost every single territory got something different bundled with Ocarina of Time 3D. Well, it seems that Nintendo is doing things right this time around and it appears we are heading in the…

According to a recent article over at IGN, Eiji Aonuma had considered dropping Motion Plus controls from the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Aonuma had stated that he wasn’t sure if this was the right direction he wanted the Zelda series to go in. It apparently went as far as several months of development continuing without the Motion Plus controls included. Aonuma eventually welcomed the idea once again after Katsuya Eguchi, developer of Wii Sports Resort talked about everything that…

In a recent interview with Pocket Lint, Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto talks about the motion control industry and Nintendo’s philosophy moving forward. Many critics of Nintendo and journalist alike have labeled the Playstation Move or the Xbox Kinect as the next step forward in motion control. As if to say that gamers got introduced with the Nintendo Wii, but are now graduating to the more high-tech HD experiences on the other consoles. Here is a tidbit from what Miyamoto had…

In a recent interview, the folks over at GoNintendo sat down and had a 10 minute interview with Shigeru Miyamoto. Skyward Sword was the hot topic of discussion and Miyamoto gave some of his views on various parts of the game. Shown below is a short tidbit of a roundup of the interview. Mr. Miyamoto also believes that it’s this 1:1 interaction with Link that helps you feel closer to the character. For awhile now, Miyamoto has been saying that…
