Hey, everyone! The Voidcast is back, and I’ll be talking about how Zelda might or might not benefit from being set in a wild western environment. I’ll look at what ideas for this have already been presented through past games, and what could be done to further push the series towards the world of deserts, saloons and horseback battles. According to a recent interview by GameReactor, Shigeru Miyamoto has all but stated that the Zelda franchise will not move outside Nintendo’s headquarters in Japan. Although many fans have expressed their desire for a Zelda game that more grasps the Western roots that the series was more or less born from, Miyamoto isn’t too keen on allowing Retro free reign with one of the largest series in gaming. From deviantARTist Pertheseus comes yet another mashup of Zelda and good old spaghetti westerns. This picture, named Spaghetti Hylian, shows Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf holding guns, wearing intense faces, and looking all around awesome. I wouldn’t want to mess with any of these three, and once you give Zelda a shotgun she instantaneously looks more intimidating. This is also available in shirt form by the artist over at Redbubble. Kotaku recently reported on a new web series that will be arriving shortly called “Fistful of Rupees”. It is being worked on by The Game Station and will debut as a three-part series. This web series will be a part of TGS’ ongoing project called MASHUP, where they blend together game franchises and different movie genres. Somehow Zelda was paired up with spaghetti western.
