According to Walmart, the second wave of Amiibo figures will be launching on December 14th! All of the Wave 2 amiibo are listed on Walmart’s website with the pending release date of 12/14/2014. And if that wasn’t enough to convince you, Walmart confirmed the date on Twitter. Alexis S. AndersonAlexis S. Let’s not get too excited here, this is far from a confirmation that Zelda U will arrive in 2014. The place holder that has recently popped up calls the game Zelda 2 (RPG) (Wii U). Obviously, the game won’t be called Zelda 2, but it would technically be considered the second main line Zelda title on the Wii U, following up The Wind Waker HD. It is listed for $99, but this is pretty standard fair for unannounced preorder listings.

It should be noted however that listings like this generally do not exist unless a retailer has even a small morsel of information to begin collecting preorders. Retailers want to get preorders up as soon as possible but they only do so after getting some sort of confirmation. While Nintendo likely hasn’t contacted Walmart directly, there very well could be a summer based listing email going around at retailers that contains general listings for new products – and Zelda U could be one of them (speaking from my experience in the retail field). While this doesn’t confirm a 2014 release, it’s the first suggestion we’ve had that the game could possibly release this year. Head inside to see a screenshot of the listing.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that you can get your hands on a bundle early just by shopping at Walmart, as the game still won’t be available until the 22nd. According to Walmart.com, the pre-orders for the Skyward Sword Bundle have been completely sold out. It also mentions to check back on 11/20/11 or on a date afterwords to see if they have any more in stock after Skyward Sword’s release. With only a few more days left until it’s release date, it’s unsurprising really to see that this has occurred since there are a lot of people trying to get their hands on a copy before time runs out….
