For those unaware, the official timeline that was released in 2011 had The Wind Waker on the adult timeline and Majora’s Mask on the child timeline. This is an important distinction today, because Game Trailers did some digging and discovered that The Wind Waker has several connections to Majora’s Mask and some of them are not just necessarily mere easter eggs. Be sure to watch the entire video feature to get a real grasp. There are things such as two in-game text references to events that transpired in Majora’s Mask and evidence suggesting that Ganondorf’s…

Amid the chaos that is the cesspool of Zelda fan theories and speculation, there is a glorious beacon of unquestionable righteousness: the Official Zelda Timeline. Graced upon on us by the glorious Eiji Aonuma and his Zelda disciples, this absolute guide to the history of Zelda gave us guidance, helping us to finally realize that the obvious truth we were missing was hidden in the conundrum of time travel in Ocarina of Time. Also, Link apparently died or something (not that this didn’t occur…

Oh yes, we are about to touch upon the most debated and heavily opinionated subject in all of Zelda lore: the Zelda Timeline. To be more specific, I am going to talk about the Official Zelda Timeline, as in the one presented in Hyrule Historia. Many of us know it well, and for the few that don’t, have no fear because we’ll be touching upon all the major aspects of it soon enough.

I want to actually start off by saying I am by no means suggesting the Official Zelda Timeline isn’t correct—I can’t dispute what the minds behind Zelda say it is. However, I can safely say that what we are being shown isn’t in fact a timeline at all.

Does anybody here like to be on the lookout for plot holes? Do you sift through facts about your chosen media to find continuity errors? If so then this article from Nintendo World Report is probably perfect for you. Author Justin Berube laid down his thoughts on how A Link Between Worlds fits into the Zelda timeline and analyzed the introductory story and other areas of the game for problems with its placement. He bothered to put a lot of…

YouTube personality TheJWittz has branched out his channel into covering much more than just Pokémon in the new year, covering all of the Nintendo franchises now. This includes The Legend of Zelda and luckily enough for us we are treated with quality content that is not only informative, but also gives us as fans a new look on some of the games we thoroughly enjoy. One such topic that is used throughout many of the Zelda games is that of time travel. TheJWittz has covered the topic in a video that you can find after the jump, I recommend that you take a look for yourself, because it is a pretty good video and is quite entertaining!

Well, more like a minute and ten seconds, but who cares? Zelda lore is often complex and confusing for those who truly get into the franchise. Filled with split timelines, constantly revived villains, and confusing methods of time travel, the events leading up to each title have confused many.

But this isn’t for Zelda veterans; it’s for you, the newcomers to Zelda, that this video is meant for. Throw in a heavily abridged description of events and a few humorous audible and visual jokes, and you’ve got a masterpiece. You’ll chuckle, you’ll cry, you might even remember a suppressed memory or two about the CD-i games…so be sure to watch and enjoy. Hop inside to watch the video!

Zelda Lore in a Minute

January 11 2014 by Djinn

The Zelda series consists of many sequels over a twenty year long history and definitely creates very deep and complex history with many twists and turns. The confusion caused by the lengthy history has created much debate between the fans for years before Nintendo finally released the official timeline a year ago. But all of this might still be confusing for a beginner to the series. Fortunately YouTube member Lore is here to help out anyone who might be a…

Where on the timeline could we expect the new Zelda U? Let’s venture into Hyrule’s official history to find out.

In Hyrule Historia we were given the wonderfully helpful, yet controversial and somewhat confusing, official timeline. With three separate parallels after Ocarina of Time, we see the two successful splits caused by Zelda’s sending of Link back in time and so on. However, we also received the breathtakingly shocking third split: the timeline where the Hero fails.

Since we know the timeline of existing games from Hyrule Historia (which is now outdated because of A Link Between Worlds) we can have a go at finding rifts in the timeline that could have potential for a game to be inserted. So let’s ask the question: where on the timeline could we expect the new Zelda U, or possible games in the future? Furthermore, what could we expect with game content, and how exactly would it “link” into the timeline?

Read more to uncover where a future game could be placed, and what it could possibly have in respect to content.
