One of the most iconic shields in the history of gaming is the Mirror Shield from Ocarina of Time, and ever since the release of that game, it’s been a fantasy of every Zelda fan to be able to hold the shield in our own hands.

Well, a life-size replica of the Mirror Shield from Ocarina of Time was uploaded to imgur and Reddit by user gazpacho143 a few weeks ago, and we must say that it looks really awesome. It follows the original design of…

YouTube member and craftsman HappyAtom has uploaded his latest video that goes over step-by-step instructions on how to recreate your own replica wooden shield from the Legend of Zelda. This is the latest video in a series, and the previous instructional videos covered making Link’s wooden sword and bomb (non-functional of course). LEGO Hylian Shield

March 16 2014 by Maanav Goyal

YouTuber ZaziNombies has recently built a life size Hylian Shield comprised entirely of LEGOs. The shield is based off the Skyward Sword design, but to make it similar to his Minecraft style creations he used a more pixel art look when making it. The shield is made up by a whopping 2000 LEGOs,  is 28 inches long and 2o inches wide, and as ZaziNombies himself predicts, can withstand multiple slashes from a proper metal sword. The best way to see…

A Hylian Shield of Wood

December 06 2012 by ralphpotato

Pretty much all of the replica Hylian Shields out there that you can buy are made of wood. Though the actual shield in-game is some sturdy, yet lightweight magical metal, real metal shields are expensive and heavy. However, they’re all painted to hide their organic origins and just looking at the shield, it might as well be metal. But to clefrayearth of deviantART, the the brown wood enhances the look of a replica Hylian Shield, so that’s exactly what he made. Hit…

LEGO bricks are a magical thing. People have built thousands of impressive constructs with the foot-murdering little blocks for decades now, and yet there still manage to be some artists who surprise me with their amazing creations. Reddit user remig is one of those artists. After building an impressive reconstruction of the tower of Orthanc from The Lord of the Rings entirely out of LEGO bricks, this amazing man has come back and creating something just as staggering: a nearly…

Within a recent game by EA titled Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning there are a couple enemies encountered within the forest that bear a symbol that might just be familiar to Zelda fans. The enemies called Boggarts wear a curious wooden mask on their faces with a painted swirl upon it that somewhat resembles the Kokiri symbol of Ocarina of Time. A little more closely they could be said to resemble the Deku Shield with the red design on a wooden…

Skyward Sword introduced a semi-advanced upgrade system to make leveling Link more interesting. What it brought to the table was something fresh and new while unrefined all the awhile. The acquisition of said treasures was actually enjoyable, but the amount and variety of treasures necessary to successfully refine equipment was unbalanced. When it comes to The Legend of Zelda, gamers have high standards for every new title. Nintendo was bold to experiment with a deeper upgrade system, however they nearly…
