Should Retro Studios Make a Zelda Game?

ChristinaDecember 26th, 2011 by Christina

Retro Studios, best known for their work on the Metroid Prime trilogy, started out as a small, second-party game development company out of Austin, Texas. Due to their success in creating Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes for the GameCube, Nintendo brought them on as a valuable, first-party developer. Their name eventually became synonymous with their title, Metroid and they continued to make games for the series all the way through Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Aside from that, they have made a name for themselves by helping to develop other popular titles such as Donkey Kong: Country Returns for the Wii and the recently released Mario Kart 7 for the 3DS. With so much success, Retro Studios has proven time and time again that they are capable of making great games, so the question that arises is why has Nintendo not given them the opportunity to create a Zelda game?

DestinyDecember 5th, 2011 by Destiny

Youtube user spidermjc has uploaded a cute little fan film to the song Legend of Zelda by The Rabbit Joint. The costumes are really adorable and well done. It stars a very fitting young Link on his quest to save Hyrule. While Ganondorf seems a lot less imposing when he’s around three feet tall, it is no less an epic tale. Will Link succeed with the aid of his fairy in saving the equally short Princess Zelda? Check out the video after the jump!

While it might seem terrible for us personally, it could have also changed the way other games have developed. Professional Fencer Promotes Skyward Sword

SetterwindNovember 27th, 2011 by Setterwind

Remember back in the day when we had to just push the A button to use our sword in Zelda? Seems like it was just yesterday and now we can actually really get into our swordplay and move with the game! What better way to make that change even better than to have someone who uses a sword on a regular basis. Claire Bennett, a professional fencer, was hired by Nintendo to do a photo shoot, a bit of fencing, to show off her swordplay and even teach some people how to fence at the Nintendo Skyward Sword Launch Party.

The event was held in a victorian building in South Kensington with decorations of fairy lights and greens plants and vines winding up the stairwells along with green lights to make it seem more mystical and forestlike. Take the jump to read more about the fencing adventures.

The Legend of Zelda: 25 Years of Humor

DestinyNovember 22nd, 2011 by Destiny

Lately, Nintendo has released a few of these 25 Anniversary Videos. From Darunia dancing to Saria’s song, or Link being scolded for being a cheapskate.

When you think of common Legend of Zelda memes or phrases from the early games, several obvious ones come to mind. IT’S DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE, TAKE THIS! or I AM ERROR. Well, another one of these Legend of Zelda Memes has returned in the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. I would classify this as a spoiler of sorts, as it’s one of those cases where once you find it in the game, it will cause you to give off a little smirk. I’ve put the video after the jump and if you want to check it out now, go ahead. Otherwise, I’d just hold off until you discover it within the game. It’s always more exciting when you find it on your own anyway, right?

Awesome Legend Of Zelda Video Tribute

SetterwindNovember 17th, 2011 by Setterwind

Lindsey Stirling is a violinist who posts videos on youtube of herself playing her violin. She is also apparently a Zelda fan as well and has just recently posted a video on youtube of herself in various naturelike locations playing Zelda music on her violin while dressed as a blue Link! If you are going to make a Zelda music video, I would say that this is definitely the way to go with it. I love the Zelda-esque feel that it has to it. There is a shot in the beginning that shows her walking up some stairs with stone walls on the sides with a torch. That kind of environment just screams Zelda to me. There is also a horse included in this video. Could Epona be real?! I get the impression that she may want to go all throughout the wilderness to spread her love of Zelda music to all who can hear it. This video, with it’s beautiful scenery and gorgeous violin Zelda music, is very much an enjoyable experience to watch. Makes me wish I were actually there to see and hear it all firsthand. Take the jump to see the epicness yourself.
