The Legend of Zelda has had a lasting impact on the video game industry as well as many aspiring and successful developers. There’s no denying that the franchise’s imprint is forever embedded in gaming and in the hearts of many gamers, as Djinn pointed out in his recent article on culture and Zelda. Today I’m going to elaborate on this idea and provide some more examples outside of gaming where the franchise rears its head. It has truly become a…

We are counting down the final days until Skyward Sword’s release and for today’s installment of Zelda Universe’s 25 Years in 25 Days they cover the year 2008. Although no new Zelda game was released this year there were plenty of other things to keep fans busy. This was the year that two webseries, The Legend of Neil and There Will Be Brawl, were released and they both starred Zelda characters. Also, two more books were released, one being a…

Nerd Reactor recently interviewed Tony Janning, who plays the main character Neil on the popular web show The Legend of Neil. The interview (here) does have some vulgar language so it may not appeal to some readers. Questions in the interview include everything from the production process, the success of the show, and how raunchy (or not) the show actually is. It’s a fun read and I recommend that all of the Legend of Neil fans give a quick read…

The moment many of us have been looking forward to for quite some time. In the latest episode of the Legend of Neil, our hero Neil finally makes his way to the 9th and final dungeon, Death Mountain en route to face off with Ganon and rescue Princess Zelda. Along his path there are plenty of familiar faces from previous Neil episodes and it comes to one epic battle between Link and Ganon. It doesn’t just end with the battle…

The newest episode of the Legend of Neil is now available and might I say it was quite epic. Lot’s happens in this one and rather than giving it all away, I’m just going to suggest you take a look at it yourself. There is a lot of new dialect, Link gets a couple new goodies for his arsenal, and he’s preparing for the final stage of his quest. As usual, there is some swearing and minor sexual references throughout…

In the latest episode of the Legend of Neil, after getting quite beat up in the last few episodes by Armos, Lynels, and Like-Like’s, Neil finally gives in and asks the Old Man for help. Thus, this triggers the training montage in which it plays homage to the Rocky Films. Neil learns the names of the different types of enemies, how to manage his inventory, and gains several new heart containers. Neil then learns that he now can get the…

New episodes of the Legend of Neil are being released every two weeks. However, to give us our Neil-fix, during weeks with no new episode, they are releasing ‘mini-episodes’, blooper reals, and other interesting short videos. In the most recent short video, we get a look at an Elf having some fun with a Like-Like. I have to say that the Like-Like in the show is done quite well. It looks pretty sweet, moves around nicely, and is very rich…

In the latest episode of the Legend of Neil, Link gets captured by a group of Lynels, loses his magical shield to a Like-Like, get’s into a dance-off with a Lynel, and then learns the news that his fairy children have been kidnapped. I actually think this is one of the weaker episodes thus far this season but still enjoyable nevertheless. If you are somebody who hasn’t seen a Neil episode yet, this probably isn’t the best place to start….

In the latest episode of the Legend of Neil, Link gets beat up by some Armos statues and then later meets back up with the lovable fairy, only to find that there is quite a surprise waiting for him. Later on after searching for level 6, Link plays the magic whistle in which he runs into one of the toughest enemies in Zelda, the dreaded Lynel. It isn’t until he is saved by… well, just watch it yourself. I have…
