Nintendo has filed a trademark for the term Hyrule in Japan, Europe, and the United States. The first thing that comes to mind is that Nintendo is just trying to protect Hyrule Warriors, but the trademark would not actually protect the Japanese version of the game and the trademarks are not currently active, suggesting it could be for future ideas. There appears to be a hiccup with it in the United States, but they are working through it currently.

The real question here is why they are trademarking…

Hyrule is a classic kingdom that has gone down as one of the most memorable places in gaming history, in any one of its many iterations. Nowadays, it even has Hyrule Warriors named after it. As much fun as it is to revisit, though, is it time to move on to new and interesting places with different elements? Join the discussion after the jump!

Every now and then we show the huge collections of Zelda paraphernalia fans have been able to acquire over the years. From figurines to breakfast cereal, there’s a huge range of products waiting to be snapped up by collectors. USAopoly have several awesome looking items but now you can get your hands on a jigsaw puzzle map of Hyrule. Take the jump to see the puzzle!

The Zelda series is no stranger to the Minecraft universe. In fact, a simple Google search will return thousands of results correlating the two. However, one specific texture pack in a pre-built world uses a slightly deceiving Majora’s Mask themed logo and drops players into a near perfect recreation of Hyrule from Ocarina of Time.

Developing team Tecmo Koei recently confirmed that Hyrule Warriors is now 100% complete! According to the official Japanese Twitter, the anticipated title is set to be released in Japan on August 14th. Hit the jump to read more!

Over the years, we’ve run, rolled, hopped, galloped, sailed, and flown over the land of Hyrule. From the large and iconic field itself, to the towns full of characters of various races and identities, this land has overwhelmingly been the primary backdrop for our adventures in the Legend of Zelda. But with all the focus on having a truly open world, I believe it’s time to inquire as to what’s beyond the horizon of Hyrule. Join the daily debate!

Minecraft has been giving fans with the patience and creativity the tools they need to pay tribute to some of their favorite movies, TV shows, and video games. Whether it’s making a 1:1 scale model of the U.S.S. Enterprise from Star Trek, or a life size model of Hogwarts from Harry Potter, the seemingly unlimited resources and space in the game have inspired countless players to reconstruct their favorite environments from other games. Kezsonaj, a member of the Minecraft forums, has spent roughly six months recreating the world of Ocarina of Time from scratch. The time and detail put into this project is nothing short of impressive, and the map will soon become playable to anyone who wants to access it. An image posted to Reddit a few days ago shows an excerpt of an interview in Game Informer with Hiromasa Shikata, the Director of A Link Between Worlds.

The image shows the text of a question that asks if there any Majora’s Mask references in A Link Between Worlds that we may have missed. The answer given is,

[Having Majora’s Mask in Link’s house] was a special request from Aonuma’s production team. Now why would they ask us to do that? – Hiromasa Shikata

Is Aonuma planning on doing more in the world of Termina? We can’t be certain, but it looks like the signs might be pointing that way. Read after the jump for more!
